Over a period of nearly ten years, the author has lost approximately 45 pounds (not counting the grams), and, at age 75, has been feeling better than ever before in his life as a senior person. Now, he benefits from the following impressing results:
The upper blood pressure remains stabile in the "healthy" range.
The lower blood pressure also moves in the "healthy" range.
The pulse rate has leveled in an optimal range.
His general health conditions has improved significantly.
His physical condition is much better thab before.

The key to success was an increased, but still reasonable, physical exercise combined with a healthy diet. In sum, Mr. Popp is convinced that his program also works for other "best agers" as well as for younger peoples.

Throughout the course of the last nine weeks, my eyes have been opened to an entirely new world full of nutritional and exercising information. It is rough being a thirty-three year old husband and father, with an eye on trying to remain on this planet for as long as humanly possible. As parents, we all have goals we want to achieve. The usual suspects include seeing your children graduate high school and then college, walking your daughter down the aisle of her wedding, and being able to retire and continue to live a healthy and happy life. What I have come to realize through this nutritional and exercising information is that in order to accomplish this goal, there are certain aspects of my life that I need to change. I am not a particularly healthy eater. I do not exercise regularly. I mostly do what I can with the time I have available. I suspect this problem plagues many men across this country and around the world. In my state, the obesity rate is close to 30% and it continues to trend upward (Centers for Disease Control, 2011). Without a drastic change in lifestyle, I am simply adding to the statistics. The knowledge I have gained in this course has led me to believe that this is simply unacceptable. Something has to change, and I have a plan to make that happen.…

The four nutritional or exercise goals that I have come up with is to exercise at least 30 minutes a day for five days a week. Also for nutrition I can add more vegetables and fruits to my diet. An example would be when going out to eat I could substitute vegetables for french-fries or fruits in place of pies. Another exercise goal would be to start using the pedometer that I bought several months ago while I was working. I can use it to set goals for myself by adding more steps in my daily routine throughout each day. Nutritional wise I can start by planning ahead by making my shopping list for meals and snacks for a week so this way I will now exactly what I am going for before I…

The diet I chose to look at was the 4 Hour Body Diet by Timothy Ferriss. Ferriss is also the author of the #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER The 4-Hour Workweek. More recently, he wrote the upcoming release of The 4 Hour Chef that is being banned from bookstores nationwide. I stumbled upon this book one day when I was browsing the internet for new and interesting ways to lose weight and Ferriss’s book caught my eye. Just reading the first page enticed me to read more. The 4-Hour Body: An Uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming Superhuman, I thought to myself this has to be the biggest joke ever. I picked up the book and just reading the first page made me laugh “how to lose 20 pounds in 30 days (without exercise) on the uber simple Slow- Carb diet. At this point I just had to buy the book to see what crazy fad diet had just befallen me. when I got home the first page alone was disturbing Tim was describing how he just consumed almost two full-size barbecue chicken pizzas and three handfuls of mixed nuts, for a cumulative total of about 4,400 calories. That was only his fourth meal of the day breakfast having consisted of two glasses of grapefruit juice, a large cup of coffee with cinnamon, two chocolate croissants, and two bear claws. only 72 hours later testing his progress with an ultrasound analyzer his body fat had dropped from 11.9% to 10.2% in only 14 days. So what is Tim’s secret, he claims it is his little rules…

There are millions of people that struggle daily from being overweight and they don’t understand what they are supposed to do about it. Being overweight isn’t something that people should be taking lightly and something should really be done about it. “About 35.7 percent of American adults and 16.9 percent of children between the ages of 2 and 19 are obese, according to the federal statistics.” Victoria, C. (2012, September 19). With knowing this information, everyone in this country is at risk if Americans don’t figure out how to get this situation under control. Some people don’t even find obesity to be a problem and think that it’s ok to live their lives overweight like this but little do they know their lives are at risk.
