Many Americans are surprised with how few citizens actually vote. Over the last 50 years, in presidential elections, the percentage of eligible voters that actually vote ranges between 49% and 60%: the turnout is even lower for non-presidential elections. Voting is a method used to help make a decision or to express an opinion. In America we use voting in many different ways. Politically speaking we use voting in elections for presidents, senators, representatives, mayor, judges, governors, laws and taxes. There is a debate on whether or not voting really matters.     After an extensive review of ten articles, I have developed the following information: The President of the United States is not chosen due to popular vote, but rather due to the fact that the framers of the constitution created the Electoral College. Americans have questioned the system since its creation. (Uselton, 2008) The Electoral College was born due out of the the debate whether congress had the power to elect a president, or did the public’s national vote.
