Can aggressive children be predicted by the movies they are watching? People’s everyday lives are Can filled with events that trigger stimuli in the brain, even if he or she aren’t aware of it. From their friends playing pranks on them, to watching a more violent show on television, it all affects the minds in one way or another. Not only do these events or images affect kids current life, but could also lead up to adulthood such as: anxiety, heart racing, high blood pressure, etc. Everyone knows that a child learns by example; but that doesn’t change much in a teenagers case who is being exposed to violence at the prepubescent stage in life. Their minds are blurred from what is real and unreal which is when the viewing of a horror movie becomes a problem to the child. Not only do horror movies affect them mentally, and emotionally, but it can also take a physical toll on the body, such as: increased heart rate, insomnia, not wanting to eat, and catching a fever and or the chills. Horror movies affect everyone differently….. Person “A” could watch a horror movie and compare it to riding a roller coaster ride, while person “B” is not thinking of it as a thrill, but is just terrified. It is like this because it all depends on how vulnerable the person is to stress and anxiety. Although people all deal with horror movies differently, in the end, these movies all do have the same negative impacts on the viewer no matter the age. The younger the viewer, the worse the symptoms become later on. It’s easy to say “ well then, i’ll just not let my child watch horror movies anymore! Problem solved.” Well, not exactly.. The television industry has become so lenient with what they are allowing to be viewed on their network, even the kid friendly channels such as Nickelodeon still manages to have vulgar images sneak in on their shows unintentionally, so it almost becomes impossible to get away from.
