The Meaning Of The Treasure Of Lemon Brown

Do you have a treasure that is important to you? Is your treasure a family member or maybe even a friend? Everyone has something that they hold near and dear to their hearts. Others may not understand your treasure, but you understand the true meaning and importance of your treasure. The story “The Treasure of Lemon Brown” by Walter Dean Myers, is all about treasures and how they are personal. I agree with the statement that treasures are very personal and only the one whom the treasure belongs can truly understand the meaning of their treasure. Everyone has a treasure, and some people can even have more than one. You may share a treasure with someone else, but everyone has a different reason to identify that person or thing as their treasure. For instance, Lemon Brown and his son cherish the same objects, newspaper clippings and a harmonica. Lemon Brown treasures the objects because they mean that his son cherished him, and his son treasured the objects because he cherished his father. Treasures are different for everyone, whether it is an object or a meaning.
Everyone’s way of treasuring things is different. In the story, Greg’s father treasured his son by lecturing him because he wanted to make sure that his son got the education that he was not able to get. Many people treasure their family
Those people come off as very ignorant people who only care for themselves and no one else. Other people, like Lemon Brown, treasure important things and are seen as very caring people who are able to appreciate the small things in life. In the story ,The Treasure of Lemon Brown, it is foreshadowed that Lemon Brown’s treasure is very personal to him. Evidence of this is found on page 99 where Lemon Brown stated “Every man got a treasure. You don’t know that, you must be a fool!”. To me, this statement shows that Lemon Brown has something other than money, because not every man has
