The M2 Product: Industry Analysis Of The Duo-Disc
Introduction: The M2 team’s idea for there product is simple and is called The Duo-Disc. It combines two simple products into one. Theses items would be a frisbee and boomerang. We would combine these products so you have the options to play with someone like a friend or family member or you can play by yourself. This product could be for all ages, but M2 is focusing on kids to buy this product. This paper is focusing on the industry Analysis for this product. The purpose of doing these Industry Analysis is to see the size and current trends that are in the industry that relate to this product. For M2 product we looked into the Sports Goods Store. Trends:
There are various trends that are happening in the sporting goods. Recently they have found that sport equipment is better sold in stores rather online. The seem to the most money when they are sold in the store. Also another recent survey shows that there is a growth of female participation in sports. Most sporting goods store will market to their consumer by a combination of promotional events and advertising.The US trend of team sports has dropped by 11 percent in team participation from 2008 to 2013.Traditional sports saw the greatest decrease in participation like basketball, football, and baseball. They did however Sports such as gymnastics, ultimate Frisbee, indoor soccer, and beach volleyball gained players. Core participation in team sports, which measures people who regularly participate, has increased since 2008. That increase is good news for sporting goods retailers, because core participants tend to spend more on sports and fitness products and buy higher-end products. In the sport good industry they could be a variety things that can be sold. The items that are sold most at sporting goods store are sports equipment, clothing and footwear.

People who are retiring are trying to stay healthy and fit to have a better and enjoyable life. People usually retire when they are 65 and the number of those people will increase by more than 40 percent by 2020 compared to 2011. Some disadvantages working in this industry is it is seasonal. Depending on the product it is only brought by the consumer at highly amounts at certain time of the years. For instance tennis rackets and suffering gear would be brought in the spring and summer. Whereas skis are brought in fall and winter. Other disadvantages we have are we are competing from electronics. In recent years the habits of children have changed. Instead of going outside and playing it more likely for them to be inside watching tv, playing video games or internet. We also have to looks at Also in the Sporting Good store the merchandise often reflects on the needs of the local customers. Stores often study sports trends in the area to make make the supply of products for each community interests. Another challenge that this industry deals with is a high employee turnover. They are often have a lack of knowledgeable employees who have a a great knowledge in a particular sport. The annual employee turnover in retail can reach to 60
