The Light Brigade Mood

The poem “Charge of the Light Brigade” by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. The poem talks about a Battle. It is filled with many literary devices and organized very well for a poem. The type of rhyme and meter that Alfred used in his poem was dactylic. The three most prominent poetic devices used to depict this battle are repetition, imagery and metaphors.
In this play there was a lot of repetition used. It was used to help stress the emotion of what the author was trying to get across. For one example the phrase “Forward the light Brigade” That was said in stanza one, line five and in stanza two, line nine. This is helps put emotion into the poem. Another time is in stanza three it repeats itself a lot. “Cannon to the right of them Cannon to the left of them cannon in front of them” this is another time that repetition is showed. Repeating to set the mood and to show intensity. This is repeated again in stanza five it mentions the Cannons again to help show that in the poem the soldiers are still stuck and surrounded. Another place It shows repetition but also it shows personification it's what it says “into the jaws of death into the mouth of hell.” Here it's repeating the

Alfred also uses lines of imagery like” plugged in the battery smoke” to help bring a very detailed image to remind to explain exactly what he is talking about. that help readers visualize the poem to have a deeper understanding of it. another place it shows imagery is well it says “Cannon to right of them Cannon to left of them cannon in front of them.” this help readers understand that in this point of the poem it's depicting that the entire Brigade is surrounded by Cannons, which also referred back to when it says “into the jaws of death into the mouth of
