Luke 10-12 Jesus sends out disciples along with seventy-two others and sends them out in pairs to all the places that he planned to visit. He was sending them out as lambs among wolves. Jesus set an example for his disciples and for all people to follow. His example and teaching was to show compassion towards everyone, men, women, Jews, Gentiles, righteous people, and sinners alike. He believes they should all be treated the same. In the following paragraphs, I will analyze and critique the article “The Resurrection of Christ: Theological Implications” by Daniel B. Wallace. Wallace’s main purpose in writing this article is to stress importance of the Resurrection of Christ and its impact on the Christian faith. Answers: “The standard scholarly dating is that Acts was written by Luke in A.D. 61-63, because Paul was still living and under house arrest in Rome. Since Acts is the 2nd of a two-part work, we know the 1st part - the gospel of Luke – must have been written earlier than that. And since Luke incorporates parts of the gospel of Mark, that means Mark is even earlier. So if you allow one year for each writing, you end up with Mark written no later than about A.D. 60, a maximum gap of 30…

Obedience; you cannot be a disciple of Christ without obeying Christ. Bonhoeffer brings a point to light that obedience is crucial to being a disciple of Jesus Christ. He shares an example of obeying Christ. Mark 2:14 (KJV) “And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, ‘Follow me’. And he arose and followed him.” Matt. 9:9 and Luke 5:27-28 are also examples of obedience to Christ: Jesus called Levi, and Levi just got up and followed. Bonhoeffer points out, “The call goes out, and without any further ado the obedient deed of the one called follows. The disciple’s answer is not a spoken confession of faith in Jesus. Instead, it is the obedient deed.” There can be so much speculation about Levi not verbally confessing a faith in Christ, that as readers, we can lose sight of the bigger picture. Jesus Christ called Levi, and without a question, Levi left money and all to follow, the moment Christ…

The subject matter is the Christ on the cross. The painting looks very depressing because of the dead people and Christ and the thieves on the crosses. “The theme of the Lamentation is traditional, although it is not described in the Bible. It shows Mary, the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene and others, weeping over his body after the Crucifixion. Rembrandt's picture is carefully constructed to connect with other episodes of the story of Christ's suffering and death. The two thieves remind us of the Crucifixion itself. The figures climbing down the ladders recall the Deposition, when Christ's body was brought down from the cross. The group of people on the right includes a man with a feathered hat, whose elegant dress may be meant to suggest Joseph of Arimathaea, who provided the tomb for the Entombment, the burial of Christ.” (http://www.nationalgalleryimages.co.uk/)…

Jesus prayed for the disciples describing them as those God gave to him out of the world. Whilst praying for his disciples Jesus says he is not praying for the world (meaning the anti-God or satanic humanity) after John outlines Jesus' concern as Jesus prays directly for the disciples. Jesus prayed that his disciples will demonstrate unity and joy and also in the world would be protected from "the evil one. Unity, joy, protection and comfort are also…

The expression Good News completely embodies the quintessential tenet of Christianity requiring people to make sacrifices to atone for their sins. “The “good news” of the Gospels is that of the life and message of Jesus Christ” and God’s reparation with the people, through Jesus’ death on the cross (Rinehart and Winston 196). Jesus’ resurrection after his death is a key aspect of Christianity because it proved that his followers prayer and suffering were not in vain. “According to Christian belief, God established a new covenant, or testament, with humanity by sending his only son to die for people’s sins” (Rinehart and Winston 196). By killing his only son in such a public and grotesque manner, God provided his followers with a demonstration…

Crucifixion is a form of execution or punishment for those of the worst crimes. It was a very popular form of execution throughout Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Many groups such as the Indians, Scythians, Celts, Germani, Britanni, Taurians, Persians, Carthaginians, Phoenicians, Greeks, and mostly the Romans all commonly used crucifixion. The actual method of crucifixion is quite simple. The man being crucified is placed on a cross or some other sort of frame (usually a cross), that he carries to the spot where he will be crucified, with their hands nailed to each wing of the cross. His feet are tied to the bottom. As he hangs by his hands, he slowly suffocates. It is a long and painful death as many observers had described it.…

The pages of God’s Word highlight biblical characters, including Jesus, who experienced immense trials in their lives. Following the Lord does not exempt a believer from the trials of life. Jesus clearly declared, “In this world you will have tribulations, but take courage, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33 NIV). Christians will indubitably experience the same trials as non-Christians, but Christians should demonstrate a different reaction.…
