Motion of a Toy Car
The purpose of this activity was to investigate the motion of a battery operated toy car by collecting position and time data, and graphing also to determine the mathematical relationship between the position of toy car and time.
When the time increases the distance of the car will increase.
Batteryoperated toy car
1. lay the meter down
2. set the timer
3. start the car
4. stop the car when time stops 5. record and mark position 6. repeat steps
Time is the independent variable and position is the dependent variable
The graph shows a straight line with a positive slope.
When the car first started, it had to accelerate to reach its maximum velocity. When the car reached its maximum velocity, it continued to travel at that velocity. This is shown by the straight line portion of the graph. The slope of the graph indicates the velocity per sec , the Y –intercept of this graph represents the position my toy car started from.
Some of the sources of error in the lab could be caused by the wheels of the car getting stuck, and there was some friction of the paper strip with the timer. It was also difficult to distinguish the very first dot. ...
