The Kidnapping Of Christina Lattimore Essay
10/28/08 Essay: period 6

There has been more than a thousand kidnappings through out the years, people make those mistakes and hurt them self and others. The book that I did my essay on is called The kidnapping Of Christina Lattimore by an amazing author, Joan Lowery Nixon. Christina was just one of those teens with dreams and tons of friends and was popular at school, until she had a turn around in her family’s life. Who would do such a thing, taking a young kid? Not even thinking about there future and what her future could be. This book is really good because it’s suspenseful and the vocabulary is great. The whole book it amazing. The setting was in a basement, some where on the city. Christina had always been with her best friend Christabel. Christabel had always been there for her, more then her own family was. Christina went to Christabel’s house to hangout. It hit 11:30 real fast, Christina’s curfew was at 11:45 and she lived right down the street. She got home and read her favorite book. She was always reading in her spare time. She had fallen a sleep and

The guy that had took Christina had left and she knew it. She climbed up the stairs and stood up. She looked around for a second and she saw her phone on the kitchen counter. She grabbed it and saw that she had 23 missed calls. Mostly from Christabel of course, she called her mom and she didn’t answer. Then she called her dad and no answer from him ether. She called Christabel and she answered right away. She tried to tell her the story but couldn’t. Christabel asked where she was at and came right away. “Minutes later she’s outside, I turn the dead bold on the front door.” (229) Christina and Christabel ran to the car and went to her house. No one was home but the maid. Christina’s parents got home and they were so happy to see

This previous summer, I was recommended by my mother to watch the new show, “How To Get Away With Murder”. Despite a general idea in my mind of what the T.V. series could be about, I asked her what the premise was. She told me it was “a law show about five students taking a women's law class of the same name of the show.” Despite law shows not exactly being my scene, I decided to begin watching it due to my mom insisting I'd love it. From the first five minutes it was already successful in reeling me in. Not only from the suspense built from the non-linear storyline, but how one of the main characters, Annalise Keating, held herself while teaching her class the steps of how to become a successful lawyer. The show caught my interest as well with their…

Arthur Conan Doyle criticizes the novel in a good way. Doyle tells us that Kidnapped is an admirable piece of English, its well conceived , well told, striking at every turn with some novel situation , and some new combination of words. Doyle also mentions that Kidnapped may have the longer lease of life. Doyle’s criticism on the author is that Mr. Stevenson invariably sticks to his story and that Mr. Stevenson is too artistic to fall into…

Stephanie was abducted on September 6th between 4:30-5:00 pm, and I believe that the offender either tricked Stephanie to come closer to him and his car (I believe he must have access to a car because he abducted 3 girls and was able to travel to dump their bodies so far away from their homes). Or, if the offender ran up to Stephanie´s porch and grabbed her there. I believe Stephanie was on the porch before the offender tricked her to him or grabbed her because her sister found her half-finished homework and a half-finished soda out there, and her bag and make-up she never left the house without was still left in her room indicating that she didn’t leave her house on purpose.…

In the town of South Lake Tahoe, children played safely outside, the sun always seemed to be shining, and laughter was a common sound. Everyone knew one another and crime ratings were close to zero. Due to the town’s “child-friendly” nature, the Dugard family called this place home (Hawkins). However, on June 10, 1991, a fiery nightmare exploded into reality for eleven year-old Jaycee Dugard. Walking towards the bus stop, Jaycee was dragged into a grey sedan (Hawkins). Jaycee’s stepfather Carl Probyn witnessed this gut-wrenching act from down the street and tried unsuccessfully to trail the car on a bike. (Tresniowski). Jaycee’s mother, Terry, lost control of her emotions after her daughter’s kidnapping (Tresniowski). The ordeal also eventually caused Terry and Carl to split (Hawkins). Before the divorce, they put forth tremendous efforts to find their missing daughter, such as producing more than 500,000 posters (Tresniowski). Thankfully, Miss Dugard was found alive in 2009 in the Bay Area (Hawkins); however, Jaycee’s abductors, Phillip and Nancy Garrido, can only be described as severely disturbed. During Jaycee’s captivity, she lived in the trash-infested, “hell-warren” backyard compound of the Garrido’s (Tresniowski). As well as a horrendous living environment, Jaycee gave birth to two daughters fathered by Phillip Garrido during her eighteen years of hell on Earth (Hawkins). The basic facts of this story are famous nation-wide; however, most individuals are clueless as to why Jaycee wasn’t rescued for so long and how she survived. Because of mistakes made by police and other officials and Garrido’s master criminal mind, Jaycee was not rescued for eighteen years, during which her methods of survival kept her alive.…

How reliable do you think autobiographies are? This is a very controversial question that can be argued on both sides. But for this essay, we are going to leave it up to your opinion but I’m going to give you mine. In the autobiography ‘Kidnapped’ written by Olaudah Equiano, is one of the first tirmes we hear about the journey of a slave from a firsthand point of view. The thing is, can we trust an official document like the Constitution to be true facts just as much as Equiano’s autobiography of the declaration of sentiments to be the most reliable way to report history.…

It had been a crazy morning as I ran all over my house trying to find my jacket and boots. My mom had been admitted into the hospital that morning for a massive headache and all I could think about was whether or not she would be okay. I took her to the emergency room that day before so going to class was the last thing on my mind. My father and sister had agreed to stay with her till I ended class so I was more at ease knowing she wouldn’t be alone. After running all over my house looking for my things I quickly gathered myself to make my train. I finally got to Penn Station with four minutes to spare. I quickly walked to where the rest of my class was as we waited for instructions to where we would…

“Ughhh” Randy said as he hit the button sluggishly on his alarm clock. He sat up on his nice warm bed and thought to himself about how just a year ago, he was sleeping on the bleak, bitter ground. He thought about Austin one of his best friends. He remembered all the parties they went to, all the sly things they did, all the criminal things they did just to have fun. Randy remembered the party they threw at the old dilapidated warehouse for Randy’s last birthday. Randy was turning thirteen that day and he was on the streets. Randy ran away from home because of his abusive father who was an alcoholic. The thought that always popped into his mind was how he cut his dad with a broken beer bottle during…

The book Kidnapped, by: Robert Louis Stevenson is one of the best books I have read. It tells the story of an orphan named David who is going to live with his uncle. He uncle tries to have him killed in an accident which did not end up working, so he gets put on a sailing ship to California to be sold as a slave. On the ship, David meets another boy named Alan. The boys fight the captain and crew of the ship. The ship ends up crashing on some rocks where the boys escape. They find themselves fighting against the elements to survive. They make it in the end and live a normal life. I would give this book four stars out of five. I really enjoyed the fact that it was a historical fiction but was still exiting and fun to read. I found it hard to read sometime because it is written in scots English. On the other hand it made the book authentic. I would recommend this book for a guy between the ages of fifteen-seventeen because it is written from the point of view of David Balfour who is seventeen. The book initially was intended for guys to read because of the plot and I feel that I could feel those intentions while I was reading. Personally I do not like reading long books, I really enjoyed the length of the book because it got to the point but still gave details to make it interesting. I do no think I would change the book because I’m not Scottish and don’t understand the way it was written. I like the flow of the book and the amount of information packed in to 224 pages was amazing. I would like to know what happens to David now that he has his family’s fortunes. I would also like to know if Ebenezer stay depressed for the rest of his…
