The Journey To Kawasan Falls
I knew it was a bad idea and I still went. It was only a few hours before 5:30 pm that my sister told me about my cousins and her hurried expedition to Kawasan Falls that was located in Badian, Cebu. I may have heard of their soft murmurs before regarding that agenda but I never really thought they would pursue it since it was only planned for a short amount of time. Additionally, the several setbacks that came along their journey stood firmly like little red flags in my head. I considered just turning down the offer and resting in the comfort of our home since I thought that it was not worth it and wrong. Yet at exactly 5:30 PM of July 2015, I was on my way downstairs with my sister meeting the red pick-up car at the side of the street.

One of my most unforgettable memory was when we rented a small house near a beach. We still have yet to visit the falls. It was early in the morning where the sun has still yet to meet the sky. It was just my cousin and I sitting comfortably in the white sand. Everyone else were still fast asleep which automatically placed us to guard our belongings. I did not know of what my cousin was doing beside me but I vividly remembered how the cool breeze grazed against my skin while I set my eyes on the beautiful scenery in front of me. I held my legs close to my heart and admired the vastness and beauty of the sea. I remembered thinking back to few splendid memories while in the trip. It may not be written anywhere but in our minds and souls. First, I remembered the sing-a-longs we sang while in the car during the road trip. Lastly, are the fun times we all helped in preparing our dinner by grilling the ribs upon arriving at the small house and how we all looked so youthful and full of gleeful grins while teasing each other back and forth. After reminiscing those amazing memories, it made me feel warm inside and smile at how a hasty trip with several setbacks created a solid bond of unity amongst fellow cousins. Nevertheless, the serendipitous memory at the beach will be a constant reminder for a bigger lesson to save for the future. That memory in the beach made me realize how wrong I was to judge how a situation based only on the complications. Moreover, it made me discover what it actually means to enjoy life in the smallest bits found in

The image of you is still painted in my mind like a canvas painting hung in an art gallery. You bought so much joy to me that day and I will always remember you because of this. Not to mention that you always lived up to your promise of coming to see me, no matter the circumstances. The sound of your voice during every visit was enough to bring a smile to my face and to cheer me up in a circumstance which this would not have been possible…

The idea of a new house excited me to the point where the seatbelt could not contain the six year old boy. Who knew the fantastic times waiting behind that door that stood at the end of the long drive way. Capturing the essence of comfort, security, and freedom this new house offered many areas for great memories to be…

Hi, Thai. I think your essay brings up a very important point “even though time goes on memories don’t fade”, which I did not think about while I was doing my essay. Also, I like the way you interpreted and combined the essays “Once more to the lake” by E.B White and “Summerland” by Peter Jon Lindberg with the phrase “We travel, initially, to lose ourselves; and we travel, next, to find ourselves” by Pico Iyer because it gives the sensation that you really understand the readings and knows how to explain it. Thanks to your interpretation of the essays, I have a whole new point of view of the theme of them. In addition, I can relate to the meaning of the memories and how tough is to not remember some experiences that have been memorable. I love…

My dad suggested we should give a family BBQ so I could say my goodbyes to everyone. At the BBQ, I was happy to see all my family together after being gone for eleven years. With the smell of the hot charcoals burning on the grill to the taste of the homemade savory sweet potato pie made me want to stay a little while longer. At the end of the night as I pack up my suitcase, I thought about the whole trip and I am glad I had this chance to visit all the other people who love and care about me. The day finally came for Mykeasha and me to go back home to California. As my dad was getting all of our luggage together and stacking them sideways in the trunk, I was saying my goodbye to my little sister Milan and I wanted her to have something to remember me by. I gave her one of my favorite necklaces. It was a gold heart with lots of little dimonds in it. She jumped for joy and put it around her neck and gave me a huge hug and kiss. Pulling out of the driveway, I felt ok. I was happy to go back home but I was upset to be leaving New Orleans where all my other family lives. Getting back home I sat to myself thinking about the whole trip and I realize that it was one of the most memorable experiences of a…

This collogue emphases what life is really about to me. It highlights the most important events that have happened to me in my life so far. There are a lot of memories of my grandparents that are no longer living and when I am missing them I could go back and reflect upon the photos to bring back the memories we have made. Even though the moments passed me by, pictures keep the memory alive. Some of the photos have a positive and negative outlook on me. For instance, one picture can represent something so happy in my life, such as my first Christmas or birthday party, and another can remind me of sadness from past loved ones that I lost. The photos in my album are snapshots that shape the identity of who I am today.…

We had all travelled, for the past two days, in a mini bus from Canada to America. My aunt recommended us to go to America on a tour, as we could see far more attractions than that in Canada. The bus had a very warm and pleasant mood as we had seen enjoyed our short but pleasant, trip thoroughly. From the Empire State Building to the Statue of Liberty we not only had the pleasure of seeing some of the greatest tourist attractions in the world but also spending time who began as strangers but now very close friends.…

Everyone has some special memories, like Larry Watson, in his essay “Silence,” reveals “all of us grieve, at some time in our lives, for our lost childhood, but in the sameness of all the days of past only the usual day, the day different from all the other days, is likely to stand out in memory. And for me, the day my father stole me is the day I remember best” (P111). It makes me recall the day I had unforgettable experiences that produced a profound impression on me. The special day I went through told me that love always exists. As well, after reading Larry Watson’s article “Silence,” I found the true love between the father and the son, even though the father left the blank impression on the son’s childhood because…
