The Integrated Health Systems (IHS)
According to our textbook, the Integrated Health Systems (IHSs) are “Organizational models that are able to serve the needs of their customers better by uniting the various services related to their care. They represent an important step towards achieving a true continuum of care. The term is used generically to describe vertically integrated, single-owner systems and formal networks or alliances among independent organizations (Pratt, 2016, p. 545).”
The benefits to the IHS are these systems bring multiple providers together into a single system, “economies of scale, gains in market share, increased bargaining power, and protection against competitors. (Pratt, 2016, p. 441).” This type of incorporation requires a secure and durable information
