The increased use of nuclear power would be the best way to provide energy whilst protecting the environment.

In these days a lot of people are concerned about the global warming. Many scientists believe that it is not true, at the same time; others say that people are causing it. What to do in order to prevent this kind of warming or to modify it? One of many chances is to use nuclear energy. As it might be predicted, the use of nuclear power is controversial. Thus, many people are for nuclear power and many against it. Firstly, those who like the idea of using nuclear energy say that it is environmentally friendly because it does not use up fossil fuels or produce greenhouse gases. In addition, nuclear power is a sustainable energy source that reduces carbon emissions. Therefore, the air will not be polluted with different kind of man-made chemicals and waste products. Furthermore, if approximately every second country starts to use nuclear energy, the pollution will decrease remarkably.
Secondly, anti-nuclear opponents, such as Greenpeace International, believe that nuclear power poses many threats to people and the environment. For example, some serious nuclear and radiation accidents have occurred with nuclear-powered submarines and with nuclear power plants. Nuclear power plant accidents include the Chernobyl disaster, Fukushima I nuclear accidents, and the Three Mile Island accident.
As we know, manufacturing nuclear energy is very expensive process because of the nuclear power plants. Thus, a lot of countries whose economy is not flourishing do not have the means to build that kind of a station. Moreover, nuclear energy is produced by controlled nuclear reaction which unfortunately turns in radioactive waste. Nevertheless, nuclear power produces far less waste material by volume than fossil-fuel based power plants.
To sum up, it can be said that many people are of the opinion that the use of nuclear energy should be increased. On the other hand,

agree that the nuclear power is an unsustainable energy resource. Environmentally, water for cooling process of the nuclear plants is released into the sea. This causes thermal pollution and reduces water quality. Moreover, the radioactive wastes in the nuclear plants will release radioactive substances and contaminate the surrounding areas. Even if the waste is buried underground, there may be leakage, polluting the underground water and soil. Serious damage is done to the environment and ecology…

works as long as it works. Nuclear energy powers twenty percent of world energy needs, but is it really worth it? Is the energy worth it for disasters like Chernobyl or Fukushima? I believe that it’s not. Nuclear energy should not be utilized due to issues like radioactive water and radioactive waste. Nuclear power plants operate with highly pressurized, heated water, so what happens to this water once it’s spent? Contaminated water can be released back to the environment through regulated and supervised…
