The Importance Of Keeping Reading Log
Today my friends and I did a debate about should we keep reading logs or should we give them away. I say that we should keep them! Three reasons why we should keep them is because. One, getting good grades for school. Another reason why we should keep reading logs is because it keeps you focused and help us summarize and organized. And why they are just good for reading! So I am going to talk about those three topics today. Are you ready? Then let’s go! Reason one that they are good for schools is because they get us good grades. When you turn in a reading log and get a grade for it, it helps you get a better grade for what subject you're doing like language arts. And even if you don’t turn it in when it’s do then you get another chance tomorrow. …show more content…
I guarantee that if we give away the reading logs, than almost a bunch of us will stop reading. Reading logs keep us focused on reading and will help us not just quit as soon as they are over. And they help us summarize what we just read and let’s us think about the characters, plot, theme, and a bunch more things about the book we are reading. So that is why we should keep the reading logs because of keeping of focus and think about the book we are reading. We have reading in almost every subject we do Math, Science, Social Studies, why just throw away the reading! And the last reason why we should keep reading logs is because just reading is fun. The book you are reading gives you an imagination about what you are reading. It gives you good laughs and sometimes sad moments. There are didn’t themes to the story like mystery, action, humor all that fun stuff. And the reading logs will keep that reading keep going to get the minutes it’s done. And sometimes we don’t even need the reading log for reading, we just do it for fun. So that is why we should keep reading logs to keep the fun reading just going on and on! So that is why we should keep reading logs. One they get you good grades, two they keep you focused and make it organized, and three they help you read. That’s why we should keep the reading logs. Hope you

Reading may take too much time, like if you want to hang out with friends, it may take too much time up. It also might not be visually appealing, like it might not look like something that you would want to read. Do you ever want to read, but you can’t because your book would take to long to read? Also, After all, playing suspenseful music when someone is walking down a corridor can put the audience on the edge of their seats more acutely than can reading about descriptions of the eerie corridor. This would not be a good reason because reading can help you physically and mentally. To conclude, reading every day may not be the best for…

Rex Murphy’s “To Read or Not to Read” is a literary criticism on the works “How to Read and Why” written by Harold Bloom. Murphy explains his views on the importance of reading and asks the question “Why do we read?” His response to this question, he states “Plainly, we read because while it is not necessary to life that we do, life is much easier, more accessible, wider in its potential for those who can and do read, than for those who cannot and do not”. This essentially means that although reading is not a necessity to what we do in life, it makes what we do easier. Further on in this piece, Murphy states that literature teaches and delights and that we read to learn or to find pleasure. This point is extremely correct. Two major reasons…

I strongly believe that we should get rid of reading logs. Because it just brings stress to the kids of getting their parent to sign the reading log, because they know if their parent does not sign their reading log the grade will go down. Secondly reading should be a gift you should not have to think of it as a chore. You should be able to get into a good book without thinking about how long you are reading for. By getting rid of reading logs if you don't have the full time you won't have to walk into school stressed out because you know your grade is going to go down.…

I have only got into a book 3 or 4 times before and when I do I usually finish it the day I start it. But if I have a goal to meet I will do what I have to do to get there. When I am falling behind with my reading goal my mom is usually the one to remind me. When it comes to writing I am not to skilled at that either. I always feel pretty proud of my writing pieces. I usually spend over an hour on my letters or reflections. But when it comes to grading time I don’t get what I expected. That is one thing I would really like to work on this year. I hope to do very will in Language Arts class and learn a lot during these four quarters. I should leave the reading and writing subject by saying I tend to do better when my teacher is…

Because the average school report card relies mostly on standardized tests, so if they study their report cards can shoot up. Also, depending on the student's grades a teacher’s salary can be raised, and they deserve at least that. Many people think that reading is not important but I think it is. You might disagree with me because you do not think it is important, and you may think it is boring but after you read this I think you will change your mind. According to the review, there are dimensions grouped into categories in children’s motivation and each plays dynamic part on extended drive in reading. Motivation to read exists in numerous features and dimensions that are coinciding with other dimensions. This review taught me to be exposed and aware of my own way to motivate myself to read. I agree to the part that the article enumerates the purposes of most of the children have for readings. It is more of extrinsic driven for reward or grade. I cannot disagree with that, because even I when I was in elementary I also have the same perspective on reading only for marking or rating purposes. As I grew up, I was satisfied to my development and see improvements on what initiates me to read. As stated on the review, I think I was able to achieve the part that my motivation to read is my goal for learning and interest on certain topic. At this stage, sometimes I still find myself guilty of treating reading with desire to compete and recognition for success. Though it shows immaturity, it is also one of driving forces for some people to pursue prolonged intensive reading. At least, I also find myself on the third category which treats reading in social context.…
