Our great nation started off very small with only thirteen colonies. There were many reasons why people came here, some came seeking religious freedom. Some came for political freedom from their home country. The Puritans that were in Massachusetts; the Quakers that were in Pennsylvania; and the Catholics that were in Maryland are just a few examples. At the beginning of our nation we didn't have an official leader or president until 1789. As time when by we gained more land through the Louisiana Purchase from France. The Louisiana Purchase came about during the prescience of Thomas Jefferson. America has provided a good means of living for the common man. People still come here today seeking the same things that the people of the 18th century did. Many people also came to the Americas seeking work. In certain parts of the world jobs are not available or don't pay fair wages but here in America we provide good working conditions and a fair wage for a job well done. America provides a chance to get ahead or to have a fresh start, which is why they call it “The American Dream”.
Compared to other countries America is a very safe place. I also find that people have great patriotism her and are proud of where they live. America provides many people with the opportunities and chances to succeed. There are many advantages and benefits of being an American. One would be that we get fresh drinking water. There are many places around the world where that is not true, such as places in Africa. We also have the advantage of being one of the most powerful countries in the world. We are also able to have a good education we are provided with skilled teachers to guide us in learning.
