METHODOLOGY METHODOLOGY

The following methods were used in order for the successive completion of this research project with the inclusion of both primary and secondary research: 1) Primary Research * This includes the distribution of ten questionnaires to the farmers to obtain their opinions on farming process. * Also farmers were being interviewed face to face to gather necessary information. * Field research was also conducted. 2) Secondary Research * Together with the primary research, secondary research was also carried out with including the internet research to get the information`s on general perspective of farming. Library research was done respectively.

    On the 23rd of November the topic peasant farming was selected. Discussion about the topic was done within the classroom on that same date. A field trip was conducted on the 29th of January to visit a farmer and his farm. The farm was located Castro trail, haruni creek. It lies in a valley eastern bank of the Demerara River. The means of transportation to farm was by bus. The bus leave Georgetown at about 10:10hrs to travel along the linden highway, the journey lasted for approximately two and a half hour. After arriving on the farm the farmer was greeted by exhausted voices of students. Students were then carried around the farm by farmer who give a clear image of the various crops that was been grown on the farm for that period of time and mean of water supply. After resting on a vacant piece of land the farmer was interviewed with some interesting question. He started to provide answers to the various question ask. He began by providing his name which was Mr. Robert Francis, 56 year of age has one daughter and had been married 23 years. He grew up in a single parent family, his mother was a poor whereby his father wealthy. He attended the New Campberville Secondary. Mr. Francis liked farming since he was a 10 year old boy. He never finished secondary school and went away for sometime live in the various Caribbean islands. He came to back to Guyana in 1969 and found himself as a farmer; he bought 100 acres of land to do his farming activities. Mr. Francis is not only a farmer but he is also a baker, he owns and his own bakery which is DAILY BREAD BAKERY. He live in the village of Le Bonne Intention (LBI) which in on the East Coast of Demerara. The data collecting lasted for half an hour.…
