The Importance Of Being A Cheerleader
Even though it sounds pretty corny and cliche, the team next year is going to be nowhere near the same without you. You’re always so supportive of each and every single girl on the team and I know that everybody can trust you the most with any problem that they have, whether it be on the cheer time or their personal life. You’re always there for the team, helping out in any way possible, whether it be fixing a whole pyramid with counts five minutes before halftime or by being a representative for our team at every orientation or school event. You represent exactly what a cheerleader should be, always showing school spirit, always trying to encourage the team to be friends with one another, showing enthusiasm during sidelines and spiriting instead of just waiting for halftime, and always expressing a kind charisma no matter what is going on in your personal life. …show more content…
Regardless of the cliques, you always make sure everyone is included in a fair way, even if that means taking a spot you’d rather not have just so that somebody has a spot at all. You make the team fair by ignoring how high of a level someone is on world cup and focusing on who is actually trying to do their best. You’re always putting a smile on someone's face with your down to earth, funny personality. You balance coaching a peewee team, being captain, and high school/college so well that you make it look easy, you prove that it can be managed. You’re always trying to make this team fun and you have no idea how awesome that is for all the girls afraid to speak up.This team is losing a truly amazing teammate, friends, and captain. I hope that next year's seniors will follow in your footsteps in everything that you do. Thank you for being one of the only people who made me feel welcome on my first

Cheer is not just a sport. It is intense physical activity with a purpose- to serve as a motivation for the team. Taking two full sport seasons, the dedication and energy required from these young cheerleaders is unbelievable. For up to 2 1/2 hours a day, they work together to achieve their goal: perfect routines to make the Hilltop Football and Basketball teams engulf in victories. These devoted cheerleaders spent 3 days at Cheer Camp and one day at the District Camp, where they expanded their knowledge and creativity for our school. However, these days spent were not for competition, but for learning from each other. Still, their natural competitive nature filled their minds and actions, self-motivating them to execute their best efforts…

My coaches and my team members did everything they could to make me feel apart of the team, they made sure I knew of practice times, meet times, and team bonding. I showed up at every meet to cheer my team on, and still connect with the existing team members and the new girls. At the end of the year banquet, my coaches presented me with the most spirited award. Staying connected with my team, and not letting an injury cause me to fade away from my favorite sport and my favorite group of people became my biggest priority. The true dedication to my team is what won me most spirited and made me feel connected to my team.…

This is my second year on the Peabody Magnet High Soccer team, and I was even awarded the Coach’s award for playing midfield and made honorably mention in my district ranking. I also am the Co-Captain of the Peabody Flag line. Being on the soccer and flag teams taught me that hard work really pays off and really forced me to challenge myself. When the flag line first started, we did not have a coach or experience. Although we taught ourselves our own routines, techniques and twirls; we placed and won a 3rd place trophy in our first battle of the bands competition. It was the smallest trophy there, but it meant more to me than any big one could. It just proved to me again that if I put my mind to something I could accomplish…

Cheerleading is more than just wearing a short skirt, a stiff glittery bow and a shell crop top with your team’s name across the chest, but it's a sport that involves the performance of organized, chanting and dancing in support of a sports team at games. In cheerleading, the choreography plays an important role through a sequence of movements of physical bodies. The choreography also refers to the design itself. Indeed, when it comes to the choreography of cheering, I thrive more than any cheerleader I know. While other girls cheer for the cuteness, I cheer because cheerleading has become my passion for dance, for movement and for the choreography of cheering and its beauty. Rather than going through the motion like other cheerleaders, I feel as if I am the motion.…

In addition to competition cheer, high school cheer is another type of cheerleading. It is associated with a school instead of a gym. Most of the squads have one or maybe two coaches. High school cheerleaders also have a main objective just like competition cheerleaders do. Their main objective is to cheer on their school’s sports teams and raise school spirit. High school cheerleaders cheer at sporting events which are usually football and basketball games. Some schools are starting to have their cheerleaders cheer at some of the baseball games, soccer games, volleyball games, and even wrestling matches. High school cheerleaders use offense and defense cheers when they cheer at games. For becoming a high school cheerleader, you do not need…

The transition from high school cheerleading to college cheerleading can be a challenge. There are many different aspects of being a college cheerleader compared to the good ole high school days. For most new college cheerleaders, the first game day will be the day you look most forward to. A larger crowd, more spirit, and fans that genuinely care if the team wins the game. As a cheerleader and large representative of your school, it’s necessary to be a big of a fan as well. Why? Because as a college cheerleader, when the team travels, you travel. Whether the game is a van, car, or plane ride away, it will be your responsibility to travel and cheer at all or most of the games, no matter what the distance may…

Being captain of the varsity cheerleading team at my high school has helped me grow as a leader; I understand the importance of learning from others and leading through example. Being young and taking charge of a team is hard work and is not as easy as people make it seem. There are a lot of situations that will eventually connect to the real world when I go to college and even after that when I start teaching at a school. Being a teacher is taking on a huge task and the hard part is not grading and giving out homework, it is more about the time I put outside of school to make sure I am being a teacher who can teach all types of students and tailor my teaching styles to their learning styles; I will be a teacher who recognizes the value and worth of each student.…

Even though, it was just a year, it was just so great. I could not put into words how much I miss it. And would do anything to be able to play again with her. Since I am going to SWIC, Lindenwood usually plays them in pre-season but for some reason SWIC did not schedule them, which upset me because I could have the chance to play against her. But overall, I am so glad that I got to play soccer for at least thirteen years. Each practice and game have taught me which made me a better player and become the player I am today. I can not thank all my coaches for what they have taught me and gave me speeches about not being so hard on myself and staying positive. The teammates I have met throughout all the years, I keep in touch with most of them. If I could start from the very beginning of being a kid, just chasing the ball, I would in heartbeat. Because it was so much fun and I love every second of it. I have put my whole life into this sport and I do not regret any decision that I turned down for this sport. I can not wait till what college has in store for me and the near future after…

Freshman year finally arrived, meaning we could finally compete for actual trophies and glory. We got to meet our new coach that would move up with us each fall season: Pule Misa, big, happy, gorilla-like, always singing Samoan, who became a second father for all of my teammates and me. Despite the fact that he didn’t speak one lick of English, he was able to teach us everything necessary for snagging our 1st place in region that year. (Varsity took 2nd at state that year.) Then, 10th grade came and we annihilated all sophomore teams in our region with ease. (Varsity took 3rd.) Next was our JV year, and we finally got to taste what going to the state championships was like. Rousing. It made the anticipation for our predictably undefeated season senior year even greater than before. Once again my team claimed the 1st place trophy. (Varsity earning a close 2nd.) My senior volleyball team was the most anticipated team in the state, the state trophy practically in our glass showcase already. The state title was all any of us wanted, and my team was determined to have it. We kicked off the summer prior to our senior year living on the court. We would play at least four hours everyday, along with meeting for the occasional early morning runs and lifting in the weight room. Primed and ready, nothing was going to impede us from bringing the state trophy home to Dixie.…
