The Importance Of Becoming A Veterinarian In High School
My past academic experiences have not been the best. I was too focused on fitting in rather than moving forward into what I wanted to become in life. Although my grades say otherwise, I know I can do anything I put my mind to. Ever since I was a little girl I knew I wanted to become a veterinarian. Throughout high school many people tried to change my mind about becoming a veterinarian because of my grades. I would always say to them, " A grade will never define who I really am and what I can really do, You just can't push a fish to want to start walking when all it wants' to do is swim." Nobody really knew how passionate I was about animals and how determined I was to becoming a veterinarian. I recently started college about a year ago, since

I joined a fraternity the following year. After joining the fraternity I put even less thought into my future and I just wanted ti enjoy my college years and worry about it later on. Around the same time I was going through a rebellious teen phase at home with my mom and that proved too stressful all together. I slacked even more and, failed a class one semester. I would go to class and did just enough to get by without caring for the consequences. Well it all hit me at once my 4th year. I was already behind on credits and had to seriously think about my future. I looked at the summary of the past few years and I became extremely disappointed in myself for wasting so much time and not taking my education serious. I told myself that this is not how I wanted to live my life anymore. I took a step back during the summer vacation to reevaluate my actions and my life and try to change my priorities to get back on track. After doing a lot of thinking I changed a lot. I decided that I wanted to go back to school and get a restart on my grades and my college education but in a different major. As a consequence I would be in school for much longer but if in the end I would study what makes me happy and I would be more content…

My journey started 16 years ago right after I graduated high school. In the beginning, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, but I knew I was fascinated with science and medicine. In the first part of my journey I attended Community College of Philadelphia. When I got to college I had no idea which way to go or what steps to even begin to take. So I took a few classes here and there while I contemplated a career goal. After taking an anatomy and physiology course I knew that I wanted to become a physician. When I first began Community College of Philadelphia I was immature and didn’t see the importance of doing my best. My grades weren’t too great but when I realized my goal, I knew I had to buckle down and really show the determination and commitment I was capable of. On the second part of my journey, I was lead to Temple University. I knew that this was the time to stay focused and make sure I did the best I could do and more. Temple was my second chance. While attending Temple I learned many valuable life lessons. Not only did temple help shape me into a mature and well-rounded woman but it also helped me achieve the tools required to have a successful future.…

Two short years ago I made a decision that would shape my entire future and mold me into the person I always had hoped to be. It was an irrational decision, made purely on assumptions, and naivety. I decided to join an Agricultural & Environmental Science class during the start of my junior year. Prior to entering the program, I had a very sparse knowledge of agriculture and placed little value on the subject. I was simply enthralled just to be apart of a class that would allow me to study animals, and gain hands on experience. However, little did I know, that the moment I was accepted into this Agricultural class, my entire life would change. For two years now, I have been blessed to immerse myself in my Agricultural program, and FFA chapter.…

During my time at Gwynedd Mercy University, I experienced many hardships that today made me a stronger student. When I first attended Gwynedd Mercy University, my parents encouraged me to choose a major where I would have a career in allied health. Unfortunately, deep in my heart I knew it was something I did not want to pursue but I knew it would make my parents happy. As the semesters went on, I tried to keep up with the studies but science was just something I was not good at. This led me to struggle and choose another major. It took me a while to finally choose what I wanted to do and I always wanted to pursue a career that would help people in ways other than allied health sciences. I chose to declare Human Services as my major and I became very content. However, things were still not easy for me. The middle of my college years, I became very ill. I suffered from many illnesses that set me back on attending classes. At this same time, I grew into depression and anxiety because I did not want to use sickness as an excuse, but knowing that I was not in my best physical and mental state really discouraged me. As my illness went on, my family was hit with my mother being the only source of income. This led me to having to work extra hours at the crack of dawn before classes, attending classes, then…

Both of my parents went to college and both of them also went on to get a post-graduate degree. To them a college education is a necessity to be successful in life. Neither one of them expects me to get into or go to Harvard or Yale, but they do expect me to go to a respectable college. Some teenagers often do not go to college because they must get a job to support their family. Thankfully my parents have always said that I do not need to get a job until after college. The academic and financial support my parents have provided me has cause me not to think of college as a unattainable dream, but almost as another step in my educational , similar to high school or middle school. My parent’s knowledge of the college and the admission process has taught what I need to do in order to put myself in a position to get into a respectful college. The advice and knowledge from my parents has taught me not to just worry about my grades because colleges do not like book worms. Colleges like kids who show they can manage many activities while still maintain a solid 4+ GPA. This attitude has been a positive for me because now I am in many extra-curricular activities including playing Varsity lacrosse, being on the Academic Bowl team, and playing two instruments. Without my parents I could most definitely see myself being a book worm, but thanks to them shaping the attitude that colleges look at more than just grades I have become more outgoing. My parents influence on my view n attitude of college has most definitely been a positive one, and thanks to them, so far, I have been very…

I had worked hard in school because of this desire to become a physician. But at a time I also became discouraged and worried about my future outlook. During my second semester of freshman year and going into sophomore year in college, I was still trying to figure out how to study properly and the troubles in physics and organic chemistry became a nightmare. On top of courses being difficult, I was also involved in a dance team, an active runner, and employed as an undergraduate peer advisor and TA, which became hard to balance. Sacrifices were made, which I came to realize is what a physician's job entails. I had never faced more of a…

After graduating from Western Oregon University I will apply to a dental school to earn a dental degree. During my college career I will work hard to maintain a high grade point average just like I have in high school. My goal for high school was to get a 4.0 all through high school so that I could be the valedictorian. I was able to achieve this by doing my homework every night and studying tirelessly. There was times when I thought that I wasn't going to be able to accomplish this. For example, this year I am taking AP physics and I have always struggled with science…

Hello, I am currently a junior in college. This has been my third at Houston community college. I initially started off by wanting to be a Dental Hygienist but later I started to realize it was not something I was passionate about. I soon came to the conclusion that I want to be an elementary school teacher. In the beginning I was thinking about money rather than a degree I would be dedicated to. I graduated high school back in 2011 and to be honest college was never in my panorama. After graduating I got my first job at Family dollar and that was my wake up call. I realized that I would not be able to live an abundant life getting paid minimum wage. I knew that if I wanted to make a difference in my life, I would have to go back to school.…
