The Impact Of Sexual Assault On College Campuses
Every 107 seconds a new person is a victim of sexual assault. That means that during this class period over 467 people will be sexually assaulted in america alone. Most sexual assaults happen on college campuses where there is little support or help for these victims. This problem is not an isolated situation either. At IU there were over 300 sexual assault reports and only 3 cases that a person was expelled for it. Colleges turn away from these cases because they simply cost too much too take care of. Colleges need to start taking responsibility for the care and well being of there students.     It’s not fair that our justice systems tries to make people think that they try their hardest and follow the law just by pushing for reports to be made on assaults. Why should victims feel the need to make a report if they don’t get enough respect, help or treated with care? Especially if the crime has not been reported as a crime.
