The Book That Changed my Life The book that made a large impact on my life was The Hunger Games. This book impacted me because it displayed images of violence but had a very good love story twisted into it. The Hunger Games starred Katniss Everdeen and her “partner” Peeta Mellark. They were selected from the same district to participate in the games. The game was a game of survival and only one person could emerge victorious. This book made such a large impact on my life because even though the two people had to fight they still stood side by side. They faced all of their fears and almost death together. Katniss and Peeta would fight off all of the obstacles and people that came against them and would emerge

Only the book version can convey the complexity of the main character Katniss, which vividly portrays her inner soliloquy, fear and constant feelings of inadequacy. In the movie, which is largely composed of Jennifer Lawrence’s fan freaking tastic acting and really smart cinematography, Katniss’s inner thoughts are missing. For example, it’s never really articulated that Katniss doesn’t necessarily return Peeta’s feelings during the games. If you hadn’t read the book, you wouldn’t know because Katniss isn’t telling you. The Hunger Games movie does not portray Katniss’ complicated romantic feelings for Peeta and Gale, the book has an advantage of diving deeper into Katniss’s mind. Moreover, in the book, it states that each tribute wears a black jacket in the arena. In the film, each pair of tributes wears a different colored jacket to represent their district. A third major discrepancy is the fact that in the book, the Mockingjay pin is given to Katniss by the mayor’s daughter, Madge and in the film it is given to her by an unknown old woman. Therefore, book is better because it always gives you more essential…

Katniss Everdeen demonstrates great courage even in the most difficult situations. After her father died in a mine explosion, she keeps her family together and alive by “Making sure there was always enough food on the table” (Collins 10). This provides great courage because even though her family is going through a rough period, she still has to figure out a way to put the food on the table. It is not that many years past Katniss father’s death that she went into the Hunger Games. She has to use all her past skills from the wood to stay alive, and they helped her win “The annual Hunger Games, designed to discourage the districts from staging another rebellion against the Capitol” (Collins 26). She volunteers after her younger sisters name was drawn to be a tribute, because she knows she has much more of a chance winning than her sister, Prim. During the Hunger Games, the two last survivors are Katniss and her so called ‘lover’ Peeta. Neither of them wanted to win enough to kill each other, as they could not think of life without one another. Therefore they decided they would die together and eat the poisonous berries, otherwise known as ‘night lock’ and rebel against the Capitol making them have no winner. “I lift my hand to my mouth taking one last look at the world” (Collins 345). The head Game Maker came on the announcements and pleads to not eat the berries and two people from the same District could win. Katniss has showed Panem, that even in dangerous situations that were not always on your side, you can still turn it around and fight for what you want.…

    Hunger Games-Leadership

Firstly, I have to mention Katniss Everdeen, the main character. She was a young woman, with a really hard life. She lived in district 12, the coal miners’ district. Her father used to work in a coal mine but he died in a work accident, so after that Katniss had to take care of her sister because her mother was paralyzed. Every day, she and her friend Gale went to the woods for hunting, and after that they sold what they hunted in the market. She was a great hunter; she could use the bow and arrows like nobody else. Probably, all these situations that she had to go through made her a strong woman, ready to participate in the Hunger Games with success, and also made her a great leader. She could be tough as iron when it comes to hunt, or fight, but she also could be sweet when it comes to convince the audience to like her or to convince the capitol she was madly in love with Peeta (the other tribute from district 12), or when she was with her little sister. These attributes, helped her to suit to every situation or problem she had, and she went through that successfully mainly because she could adapt her style to different circumstances, like an opportunistic leader. Moreover, she was a very determined and smart girl, like a leader has to be if they want to accomplish every goal they set. For example, at the end of the games, she had to choose between killing Peeta and wining the games or dying and let him win. But she was determined not to die and going back home but also she was smart enough to realize that if they both die the games would…

My favorite character for most of the story was Katniss Everdeen, the beautiful, spirited tomboy. I could really relate to her like I could no other character in the book. I admired her for taking care of her little sister and especially her mother. I too, had to be the parent child in my household when growing up. I was not surprised at all when she took the place of her sister, the underdog, in the Hunger Games. Because I too, have lost someone close to me, I knew that hunting not only fulfilled the purpose to feed her family but that it helped her to cope with the death of her father, whose bow and arrows she cherished. My best friend during my teenage years was a guy named Brian, so it was easy for me to understand the relationship Katniss shared with her best friend Gale; the good looking guy that the…

““That's when I hear the scream. So full of fear and pain it ices my blood. And so familiar. I drop the spile, forget where I am or what lies ahead, only know I must reach her, protect her. I run wildly in the direction of the voice, heedless of danger, ripping through vines and branches, through anything that keeps me from reaching her. From reaching my little sister.””(The Hunger Games). Katniss Everdeen, a fictional character, is a pillar of strength throughout Suzanne Collins’s Hunger Games, published in 2008. The heroine of the book, shows that you don’t need supernatural powers to be a hero. Her selflessness, bravery, and skillful demeanor help her survive in a broken world of injustice and tyranny.…

I want to learn more about the relationship triangle between Katniss, Gale, and Peeta, because I feel like Suzanne Collins could really build that up to be an important plot point. The ending of the book had the most impact on me, with the descriptions of the battle at the cornucopia really resonating with me. I was also taken aback at the gamesmasters’ decision to make only one team member survive. I also fully believed that Katniss and Peeta were going to commit suicide to outsmart the gamesmasters, so the quick, turnaround ruling that both Katniss and Peeta could live was a huge relief for me. I think that in the next book, Collins will make the fact that Katniss outsmarted the gamesmasters a driving force in the next two books. The entire book was riveting and held my attention without pause, a feat that most books can’t accomplish. I loved the sensible mix of battle scenes and heart wrenching scenes, and sensible scenes thrown in because it kept the dialogue lively and unpredictable. Honestly, the Hunger Games is one of my favorite books, and definitely one of the top three books I’ve ever read for…

Glimmer is my most hated or disliked character in the book. She is one of the Career Tributes, who have trained most of their lives for the games. She is described as being gorgeous, with blonde hair and emerald eyes, and she plays up her good looks to gain sponsors and an edge in the competition. She becomes Katniss' first kill. Glimmer is selfish girl who only wants to win. The final question I had was, What is the author trying to say about one of the following topics in the book. I believe courage is the best topic the author tries to talk about in the book. During the whole competition Katniss and Peeta were faced with many challenges trying to survive the elements of nature or their worst enemy themselves. The author showed that no matter what challenges came there way they would face them together and that if they failed they failed together. My favorite quote from this book is “I wish I could freeze this moment, right her, right now and live in it forever”(Katniss 45). It means live your life to the fullest we are young and you never know what might come your way or what might happen the next day of your…

I spend half of my life reading books. The book I read last was The Hunger Games. (Gary Ross, Suzanne Collinns)…It’s a sci-fi story. It really helps to learn to use your imagination. The whole book is action-packed and gripping which keeps you interested till the end and even after. I love the caraters, they are true to life. It is easy to identify with their joys and sorrows. Katniss, Peeta and the little Rue are my favourite. I think we can learn from them, how they live their lives. Its a good book for today teenagers. For example, Katniss is a really helpful caracter, It was illegal to hunt anything is the forest, despite she went to hunt, because her family was suffering. She could be died. It was a very brave action. I dont’t know how many young people would do the same to protect their familys. This is just one, but their are a lots of social and moral messages in the book. Reading this one can open up your mind and even help you to think in a different way. What would you do if you were be in those situations. So this book is really for me, because I like thinking, and find the answers. I really like this book, it s very individual .…
