The House On Mango Street Education Essay

In the novel, The House on Mango Street, Sandra Cisneros, shows the importance of education through the different characters in the book the reason education is so important is because you need it so you can have a good job and the second reason is esperanza knows the importance of education and reason three is you need to strive for success.

You need an education so u can have a good job and the character Alicia knows this because ¨she does not want to spend her whole life in a factory or behind a rolling pin¨(31-32). she spends most of her spare time studying late, esperanza's mom did not figure out that you need an education so she was stuck behind a rolling pin for her entire life she said to esperanza that she ¨could´ve been somebody¨ (90). If she had figured this out earlier she probably could have done something with one of her many talents she had she could of went to college and furthered her knowledge of one of her talents and put it to good use.

Like esperanza she is striving for the best because she wants to own her own house “[she] want[s] a house on a hill like the ones with the gardens where [her] papa works”(86). She knows that the only way she can get this is if she works hard for it to study late at night so she can pass college get a good job and then have a house all to herself with no one else to worry about.
