The House Of Usher By Edgar Allan Poe
When I was younger, I went to a haunted house and I was so excited, and also scared because of things I have heard from people’s experiences. In “The Fall of The House of Usher” Poe talks about fear, but he doesn’t focus on the good things, only the bad. This paper will describe how imagination overcomes reason. Imagination can invoke people’s fear by making them over think situations. Being scared is just everyone’s imagination working. Poe got more scared because he started using his imagination and over thinking the situation. In “The Fall of The House of Usher” Poe says, “He was enchained by certain superstitious impressions in regard to the dwelling which he tenanted, and whence, for many years, he had never ventured forth” (Poe 19).

    The second thing that Poe does to create fear is the clock of the black room. Every hour, on the hour the clock of the black room chimes and it causes every single person of the party to stop everything they are doing.
