The Holocaust In Poland

The Holocaust is the persecution and extermination of a large portion of European Jews and other minorities by the Axis powers ( Allen 6 ). The majority of the event took place in WW2, happening between 1938- 1945 ( Allen 7 ). Most of what happened in the Holocaust did so in Germany and Poland as the majority of ghettos, concentration and extermination camps were in these regions, but the event was not isolated there either ( Holocaust par.15 ) . Those who took part in the act were the members of the Nazi party and those influenced by them, and the millions of people who were persecuted. Early in the days of the Holocaust, the victims were isolated in Ghettos. This was so they were isolated from the public, causing the general them to have much less sympathy for them. This happened in the first year of World War 2, 1939 ( Allen 37 ). The Ghettos kept the Jews in poor conditions. They were described as “filthy prisons where the inhabitants were treated little better than animals in pens.” ( Allen 38 ). An example of one of the Ghettos is the Warsaw Ghetto in Poland. They were like prisons where they had even less freedom, were practically starved to death, and were there not to store those convicted of a crime worthy of imprisonment, but innocent people ( “ Concentration Camp” par. 1 ).
