The Holocaust: A Very Important Events During WWII
The Holocaust was and still is a very important event that happened during WWII. The Holocaust literally means” a sacrifice consumed by fire.” The Holocaust is the event that was carried for many years where millions of Jews were killed in what they called “concentration camps” or “death camps.” The Holocaust took place from January 30th,1933 to May 8th 1945. You’re probably thinking “Why should I care about something that happened so long ago.” The answer to that question is even though it happened many years ago millions of people died just because of what they believed in,what they looked like,and trying to fight back against the wrongdoing. Just think if you were in their shoes and you were being persecuted for something you didn't think

    The feelings of anxiety, deception and suspense are three of the many words used to describe the Holocaust. Source B revealed how genocide was demonstrated in the Holocaust by providing evidence of classification and preparation. Likewise, Source C, a poem written by Pastor Neimoller, in which he describes the fear that the people felt when groups of Jews were disappearing each day. The day they came for them there was no one left to take a stand for the minority. In a similar way Source D, “The Terrible Things” by Eve Bunting, delivers a similar explanation by a group called “The Terrible Things” that caught groups of animals living in the forest one by one. Although when they came for the rabbits there were no other animals left to stand up for them. Exposing to us how in a similar way the Nazi’s would diminish the Jews rights though they had done nothing and no one said nor did a thing to prevent it. Therefore, the segregation of the Jewish people, also known as the Holocaust, is identified as the responsibility of the people.…

    The other side of the story to our great American history is not as pretty as they teach us in grade school. The American Holocaust by David Stannard is a novel full of live excerpts from eyewitnesses to the genocide of the American Indians. He goes as far as to describe what life was most likely like before Europeans came to the Americas and obliterated the "Paradise" so described. Columbus even wrote how beautiful the places were in which he committed acts against the Natives so horrific, it was hard to read about, let alone talk about. The Natives were so innocent and naive, that when Columbus would "show them his sword" they would grab the end and in effect slice open their hand. These people had no chance of survival once the Europeans came with their EXTREME religious ideals and power hungry minds. Stannard's strength in his work is how he gives detailed accounts of incidents to back up his theories. The only weakness of his book is that there were times when further description was unnecessary. There are only so many ways to describe babies getting their heads bashed against rocks, and he described every one of them. Perhaps it is more my weakness for reading about it then his weakness for writing it. Overall, this book ranges and compares major genocide throughout history from Nazi Germany to Stalin, and even compares how Europe was before Columbus was sent over. Stannard's wide range of history is well put together in order to give the reader the full effect of how this "American Holocaust" came into effect.…
