In England, there were many great rulers. Among one of the greatest was Queen Elizabeth I. Queen Elizabeth accomplished many important things during her time as Queen. Although she had a rough childhood, she managed to push those things aside and still become one of the greatest rulers. She also spent a considerable amount of time in jail. Queen Elizabeth's life was very interesting because of her childhood, time in jail, and achievements. Queen Elizabeth was born to King Henry and Anne Boleyn. It was a miracle she even survived to rule, considering she was imprisoned, scandalized and kept in close confinement for many years. She appointed very intelligent and bright people as her closest advisors, for giving great advice. One of her greatest accomplishments was the defeat of King Philip's armada. They were one of the most powerful in the world. She conquered many rebellions from the Irish, all of which she defeated. She provoked artists to come out and show their pieces to the world and many playwrights such as Shakespeare and Marlowe began writing. The arts flourished during this time.
