Chapter 1
1. What impression do you have of the narrator, Nick Carraway, from his narration and actions? He seems like a very intelligent, smart, peaceful, but interesting man from the way he talks, describes things and interacts with Daisy, Tom & Miss Baker.
2. What do you learn about Daisy Buchanan from her dress, dialogue, and body language? That she might be very classy, but really she seems sensual and like a flirt.
Chapter 2
3. How does Tom treat people in this chapter? To be quite honest, Tom is being a bitch in this chapter, treating people as if they don't deserve any respect. He's trying to act like he's the boss of everyone, making rude comments and kind of like mocking the other people he was with.
4. Describe the violent act Tom committed against Myrtle. What does this reveal about him? Myrtle kept on repeating Daisy's name to Tom and Tom hit Myrtle in the face and broke her nose. What this reveals about Tom is that he abuses of women, he's disrespectful and he's a cheater.
Chapter 3
5.Describe Gatsby the first time Nick sees him. The first time Nick saw Gatsby, Gatsby is described as elemental, profound, significant, elegant, formal, young, polite and friendly.
Chapter 4
6. Why did Gatsby want Daisy to see his house? Gatsby wanted Daisy to see his house because he didn't want to arrange a meeting. Also because he wanted to see her because he hadn't seen her in years and he really liked her. Gatsby wanted to know if Nick invited Daisy to his house some afternoon so Gatsby could come over. That way Daisy would see his house because it was right next door.
7. Explain what happened with their relationship after Gatsby and Daisy met. After they met, their relationship started to fade away because she was going to get married with Tom Buchanan and eventually lost contact with Gatsby.

8. What is your impression of Jay Gatsby? He is not telling the truth about his life. Can you find any parts of his story that make you suspicious? Support your answer / give examples.
Jay Gatsby seems to be like a friendly, honest, young gentleman who's just very shy sometimes and doesn't know how to express some things because of this, so that's why when he tells some stories about his personal life, I am suspicious about Gatsby not being very honest. I think that he's not actually lying, he's just not telling everything. One part of his story that makes me suspicious is when he says that he wants Daisy to see his house, but he didn't arrange any meeting or anything; he just told Nick that he should invite her over to his house and let Gatsby come over and from Nick's house, Daisy could see Gatsby's which is right next door.

However, in the story when he is murdered no one attends his funeral, but his father and only friend Nick. The reason no one shows up is because Jay was great for his accomplishments, not his character. Although he was called the “great” gatsby, he didn’t fit the full description. He wasn’t great for saving children from a burning building, donating money, or helping the poor. He was viewed as great for the things benefited other or his own unwonted accomplishments. He didn’t always have an easy life, but somehow still managed to end up on top for the most part. For example, Gatsby grew up in a very poor family. He wasn’t born into money or had wealthy family members. However, that didn’t stop him from becoming successful. Although he dropped out of college he still landed in a pile of gold. He managed to get hired to multi million dollar company and turn himself into a millionaire. Due to his wealth, people were always in his presence. My first reason is that Gatsby uses people. I think so, because when Nick first saw Gatsby, while returning from Tom’s house Gatsby was in the shadows, and was looking at Nick like he hates him. After that Gatsby suddenly starts inviting Nick to his parties and starts trying to be friends with Nick. Jordan tells Nick that “He wanted to know” continued Jordan “if you’ll invite Daisy to your house some afternoon and then let him come over” (pg: 78). Tom being prosperous, Myrtle felt as if because she is with him that he elevates her to high class. She felt better with Tom because he was important, therefore, with George she felt miserable. Myrtle’s American dream was to become a wealthy man’s trophy wife. For this reason, she has a strong desire for a powerful man to take care of her. Having to allow her money hungry mind to take over, she allows Tom to beat her. Able to play a wealthy woman’s rule being involved with Tom, she began to act like a snob. Not being her lover, Gatsby turns the wheel in Daisy’s hands, and tries to swerve out of the way. Tragically being foolish, Myrtle runs in front of the car and gets hit. The blow from the car to her body ended her life. Not only did her death upset both George and Tom, but it also ended Gatsby’s life. After mourning over his wife, George went to Gatsby’s mansion and shot him in his swimming pool, and then took his own life. In the final analysis, because of her selfishness and greedy needs, she not only caused her own death, but also causes the death of an innocent…
