Dick and Mac McDonald opened their burger stand in 1948 in San Bernardino, Calif. Under the guidance of Ray Kroc, a onetime milkshake-mixer salesman. Since the 1940’s, McDonald’s has built a loyal customer base by continually dedicating themselves to customer service and providing high quality fast food for its customers. McDonald's franchises grew swiftly: by the end of the 1960s, there were more than 1,000 across the U.S. The first international franchise opened in 1967 in British Columbia, and was followed by another in Costa Rica later that year. From there, the chain spread steadily: over a six-month period in 1971, Golden Arches popped up on three new continents, as stores launched in Japan, Holland and a suburb of Sydney. A Brazilian McDonald's opened in 1979, bringing Ronald McDonald to South America for the first time. McDonald's reached its sixth continent in 1992, with the opening of a restaurant in Casablanca, Morocco. Four years later, the company announced the expansion into its 100th nation, Belarus, and boasted to be opening a new restaurant somewhere in the world every three hours. McDonald's is the leading global foodservice retailer with more than 34,000 local restaurants serving nearly 69 million people in 118 countries each day. McDonald’s operates over 32,737 restaurants and 26,338 franchises in the highly competitive fast food industry. Approximately 80% of McDonald’s restaurants are franchised. McDonald's operates over 31,000 restaurants worldwide. McDonald's' $24 billion in revenue makes it the 90th-largest economy in the world. Counting $32 billion in revenue from franchise stores, McDonald's claims the 68th biggest economy, bigger than Ecuador. McDonald's hires around 1 million workers in the US every year. McDonald's delivers in 18 countries.…
