In today's society it is hard for schools and adults to properly identify and deal with bullying. It is hard to ignore the fact that most bullying goes unnoticed or unreported in schools, a place where adults are constantly present. With the exposure bullying has gotten in recent years people would think that schools have sophisticated methods of dealing with bullying, however this is not the case in most schools. Throughout many schools it can be seen that not enough is done to resolve the bullying and harassment happening on a day to day bases. Many schools work very hard in hopes that one day bullying will end, but it is hard for schools to know what to classify as bullying or harassment, since most of it can start outside of school grounds

There has been many cases in which a student has reported, to a trusted staff member in school, that they were being harassed through social media, but little to nothing was done to stop the act because the school had no way of dealing with such actions. In one such case a young girl, by the name Nicole, reported to her parents that she was being bullied online. Her parents then contacted the school and asked for assistance but the school could not do anything. In the online article, The Girl Who Got Even: A True Cyberbullying Story, the author states, “Her parents contacted the school, but officials weren’t prepared to help. “At that point, the school didn’t have a specific plan on how to react to cyberbullying, so they just offered condolences for what was happening,” By not having a proper plan to deal with the bullying done on social media things got worse for Nicole, but fortunately enough she learned to ignore the negativity and it did not get to the point in which she committed suicide. This is not only a problem at this school, as many schools across the country have no proper way to deal with bullying done on social media and face the same obstacles when trying to resolve these issues. The school should have a plan to deal with bullying that is mostly taking place on any social media site. In any case a staff member should be informed by the victim.
