The First Victims Of The Atomic Bomb
The first victim of the atomic bomb was Hiroshima, a manufacturing center of some 350,000 people located about 500 miles from Tokyo. At 8:15 a.m. he modified B-29 bomber, Enola Gay, released the atomic bomb code-named "Little Boy" over Hiroshima. "Little Boy" exploded just 2,000 feet above the city. The amount of energy generated from the explosion was the equivalent of 15 kiloton TNT explosion, the bomb itself was relatively small despite its huge explosive capability. Within three miles of the explosion 60,000 buildings, two-thirds of Hiroshima were demolished. Stone, clay roof tiles, and metal had completely melted.
