the escape summary
The text under consideration is the short story “The Escape” written by a famous English writer Somerset Maugham.
The plot of the story is quite simple, though interesting. The protagonist of the story is a young, clever, well-mannered man rolling in money – Roger Charing. He's such a gentleman to his fingertips, that once he so graciously managed to get rid of a woman, that nobody even noticed.
He, our impeccable man, falls in love with Ruth Barlow, an unfortunate woman who was twice a widow. In spite of all the misery of her life, she, with her splendid dark eyes which seemed to be ever on the point of filling with tears, was constantly trying to find that very man who could take the sadness out of her heart.
At first, they have happy and pleasant moments of relationships: flowers, attention, passion, which a loving couple usually intending to marry has. Of course they like that rose and candy stage. But then their paths diverge: suddenly the romance disappears, Roger falls out of love with Ruth and as a man in full starts looking for the way out, but Ruth deems that the relations should develop into the marriage. She still believes that this time she will manage to be happy. But, Roger was a hard nut to crack. He finds a way to make Ruth release him.
He says they will marry the day they find the perfect house for both of them, however, Roger rejects all the orders of the agents offering a new house, it takes years for them to search for the suitable one, they visit thousands of them, but still can't find anything. And who is to say, Ruth wanted to compete with masterful tactician and expert in female psychology. At last she loses her patience and leaves Roger herself.
She finds another man to get married with, and she will be happy. And our Roger still remains a perfect and a blameless man.

After watching the film “escape fire”, I realized what health care system I am living in. Our healthcare system is spending 75 percent of our budget on chronic diseases that can be prevented. The film argues that American medical treatment is based on performing procedures or prescribing medicines that patient might not need. In the film, there was a female patient who had 37 stents. Every time she gets chest pain; she would be readmitted and procedures will be repeated. Eventually, the patient met this cardiologist who saw her in a different way. The cardiologist sat and took her time in understanding what other causes led to the patient’s condition. I want to be that cardiologist.…

At the time Ruth’s decision to be with Dennis was controversial. The african american community, in ,addition to the white community at the time was largely unsupportive. They would repeatedly redicule her telling her how society won’t accept her, thinking society would call her “white trash.”(231-232) Ruth starts the chapter talking about her interracial marriage and how some black people did not accept her relationship with Denis. As a result, a woman punched her in the face. At that era interracial relationships were abhorred. Dennis used others negativity positively, since when they would argue he used reverse psychology stating “That’s what people want us to do,” which lead their relationship to become stronger. They always faced discrimination as a couple as well as individually. Ruth shows her loyalty and strength to face this because she would always act strong and unwavering when people ask her why her why she is with an African American.…

The story displays a spoilt young man who is confident in everything he does, this is shown in the way he commands his servants, his sisters and becomes the equivalent too todays troubled teenager when he does not get what he wants. He leaves his family to go off to the big city to have a good time and is seen doing this with his servants and people who are friendly with him only because of what he can provide. He then meets a domineering woman (the Siren with her red cape could also be seen as a prostitute as red is usual the colour of solicitation) with whom for a while he has a good time, when his fortune begins to run out she leaves and he is left with his “good time” friends who then systematically rob him of all he has in the world including the shirt off his back. The contrast shown from the confident young man leaping through the air in the first…
