The Economist: Are Girls Out Of School Or Boys?
Girls and boys never fail to compare each other. All accomplishments achieved have a sense of competition between the two genders. Who is better? Who is quicker? Who is more intelligent? There is a popular saying, “Girls rule, boys drool,” as well. However, when it comes down to school and education, who is more corresponding, girls or boys? Girls' performance towards school is superior to that of boys, therefore, school is designed more girls than boys.
In the first place, girls outperform boys in school. According to the weekly newspaper, “The Economist,” girls read more than boys. Teachers are always mentioning how reading is important. Girls and boys are put into separate categories from early on, so as they grow up, results in their behavior vary. Research from Baylor University states that behavior is strongly influenced on how girls and boys are raised. It is seen that girls are quiet and harmless, rather than boys who are harmful and loud. Due to that assumption, it is clearly understood how girls act more calmly in a classroom. Parents raise girls to be educated ladies while boys are raised to be good at sports and jobs that only men do. That leads to why boys are goofier in class and cannot sit still. People may argue that the education system is designed to create equal academic opportunities for everyone. It may, as well, be arguable that gender has nothing to do with a student’s knowledge. However, research shows that girls tend to earn higher grades in school and are more concerned about being successful. Girls are more likely to graduate than boys. Boys and girls do have equal chances at succeeding in school, but girls outperform boys.
