Perhaps I am merely cynical, but I have come to believe it is an attempt by some students to gain extra time in submitting the required work which is ultimately just an unfair advantage over their classmates who are 3 working hard to stay on top of due dates.…

The Dumbest Excuses Ever There are some pretty dumb excuses out there we here every day in class. Have you ever heard “Relatives are visiting so I couldn't do the homework.” A statement like this might not be the weakest excuse a student could ever use, but it could be avoided. First of all, you can ask one of your relatives for help. If you ask one of your family members if you could have to some help on your history paper, they wouldn't just slam the door in your face. Secondly if having your relatives over is just a big hastle and loud, you could do your homework at night or before they come.…

The art of procrastination has troubled high school kids for quite some time now. Im sitting here typing my own essay at the eleventh hour, hoping that as the deadline approaches I can piece together an essay to save my grade. “Procrastination is for the efficient at heart”, this quote captures the procrastinators only strength: the ability to make the most out of the time they have. Most students will crack as the pressure of meeting the deadline with quality work overbears them, as they regretfully wish they spent their time wiser. Few will rise up to the challenge and meet the standards, but what separates the students who succeed and those who miserably fail?…

If you ask her teachers; she is one of the hardest working students in the class and has never once turned in a piece of late work. The girl’s friends, on the other hand, talk of how they do not quite understand how she pulls it off, writing four page papers the class period before they’re due, turning them in on time and getting an “A” for all her “hard work.” The children are Advanced Placement (AP) students at one of the biggest public schools in the county. When you look at her schedule, six AP courses and one elective, you understand the constant burden she must go through when dealing with homework. However, the advanced placements students have been slowly turning into advanced procrastinators; as they would call themselves.…

In contrast, there are days when nothing is going right or there are obstacles that are keeping students from paying attention in class. Students sometimes feel tired from waking up so early in the morning that causes them to fall asleep in class. It is perfectly acceptable for students to slack off a day or two when they are not feeling well. Despite these…

As a high school student I was never really taught time management. When it came to having things turned in on time, I would procrastinate until the last minute. The deadline to have my hours done seemed like it was so far away, little did I know. As the summer progressed my thought about school and becoming an adult slowly faded. The emails kept coming,…

As I read this article, it actually made me laugh because some of the excuses I have used myself. Although it is bad to turn in an assignment late, it is not bad to make an excuse to make up for it. After all, it’s all for our sake. If the instructor let us go with it, then we’re good. But that doesn’t mean we can do it again. In this kind of situations, first is alright, but never expect a second time because any instructors would definitely doubt a second time. This article is an irony because it shows how the excuses made the teachers believe to not believe the students as time…
