Imperialism is the pattern of one country extending its dominance over the territory, political system, or economic life of some other country. It is important to establish justice in a order to ensure fairness among all citizens of a commonwealth. When there is justice equality will be highlighted since justice is based on moral rightness that is founded on law, equity rationality and ethics it is also seen as the act of fairness. When the masses are deprived of power many become resentful against the government and lead off to dissent. Two literature that was affected by imperialism and fought against the regime control is “A modest proposal” by Jonathan Swift and “The Declaration of Independence” by Thomas Jefferson. Swift uses the character George Orwell as the protestant in his literature. During this time irish masses fought against the dominance of english protestants and enforced laws upon the irish catholics. In Ireland there was a mass of poverty, overpopulation and unfair balance of business deal with Britain.The protestant is not simple nor straightforward rather he’s cold hearted and ruthless of his logic. Owell is a member of the irish upper class and professes sympathy for the poor catholic population by suggesting his “modest proposal”. He states “I am assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London; that a young healthy child, well nursed, is, at a year old, a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food; whether stewed, roasted, baked or boiled, and I make no doubt, that it will equally serve in a fricassee, or ragout." p. 207 What Orwell suggest is the people of Ireland should eat their babies in order to survive. He claims that one year old babies are delicious” whether they are “stewed, roasted, baked or boiled.
