What would it be like during the second coming of Jesus Christ? Many Christian believers have been waiting for this time to come. It is not known when the Lord decides to visit the earth again. The second coming of Jesus Christ, also known as The Day of the Lord, is a special term in the Bible used to refer to a period of time when God directly intervene with human life. For Christian believers that have remained righteous, this day of his visitation will be a blessing for them. However, for the wicked, the Day of the Lord will bring judgment, destruction and terror.

As the scripture from 1 Thessalonians 5:1-2 says, “1 Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.”, the Bible has warned the people of the earth that the Lord’s second coming will be unexpected and no one will know. What is going to happen before, during and after the Day of the Lord? In this essay, I will explain in depth the initiation of the Day of the Lord, events in the Day of the Lord, and aftermath of the Day of the Lord.

Initiation of the Day of the Lord

The initiation of the Day of the Lord can be proven from the scriptures from the Bible connecting with the events that will or have been happening on earth.

The Day of the Lord is near as stated in Joel 1:15, Isaiah 13:6, Zephaniah 1:14 and Ezekiel 30:3.

“15 Alas for that day! For the day of the LORD is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty.” – Joel 1:15

“ 6 Wail, for the day of the LORD is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty.” – Isaiah 13:6
The Day of the Lord is tied together with the changing of believers in the rapture in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 to 5:1-10. Notice that those alive when Christ comes (4:13-18) shall be changed instantly into their immortal bodies when they are

In modern, evangelical Christianity, the term “rapture” conjures up images of the Christian church being pulled from an earth in turmoil and swept away to Heaven. It is an image that is reminiscent of the “Left Behind” books, a fictional series which depicts a world in which a rapture of all of earth’s Christians has occurred, leaving behind only “sinners” to stare down the end of the world. This view of a “rapture” has become a popular one, and one that remains largely unquestioned by the evangelical Church. This rapture theology is not, however, Biblically founded or supported. In reality, this eschatological perspective is fairly new, and has only been around for about 180 years.…

In Daniel B. Wallace’s article “The Resurrection of Christ: Theological Implications,” key points regarding the significance of the resurrection of Jesus are discussed and reviewed through the lens of Christology. At the time of this article’s writing, Wallace was a professor at Dallas Theological Seminary from which he had also received his Ph.D. A recognized expert in Greek and the study and application of “textual criticism,” Dr. Wallace is also the senior New Testament editor of the NET Bible and coeditor of the NET-Nestle Greek-English diglot. While also being a published author, he currently blogs (http://danielbwallace.com) and continues to teach at Dallas Theological Seminary.…
