The Day I Came To America
A memorable day in my life first day when I came to America. My family and I traveled from Nepal to the USA. We were very nervous because it was a new place and we didn’t speak enough English. In the airport there were a lot of people traveling to many different places. When we landed in the United States of America, we felt very happy to meet our coinsurer in the airport. When we came to Rochester, New York our coinsurer gave as so many papers to sign. We didn’t understand what kind of paper they were but our coinsurer explained everything. The day that will forever live in infamy, September 11th, 2001. The tragic attacks executed by terrorist killed thousands of American lives, and I was only twenty five miles from ground zero. A five year old at the time, just on the outskirt of New York City, during biggest terrorist attack ever committed on U.S Soil. I remember seeing the smoke emerging into the sky far in the distance, from the little beach town of Point Lookout. At the time I had no idea what was happening. People were scared, the Great city of New York stopped in its own tracks. My family didn’t really leave the house for a while after the attack, since we were afraid of any other crazy event happened. You never know, It’s New York. My Mother swears she saw the smoke billowing up for at least a week after. The country was in a pandemic, and my father was soon out of a job. We needed to leave New York, and find a new place to start over.…

There once was a time that I went to cabo San Lucas Mexico with my family. The reason that this trip was so special too was because I got to spend a whole week with my grandparents, aunts and uncles and most importantly my parents. When we first got we went to are rooms and put are thing down then went right down to the pool. I can still remember the way the pool look and felt because I got cut on one of the tiles in the pool. One there reasons I liked the pool so much is you could just sit there and watch the sun set. Then the next day I went fishing on the beach that was so cool casting out a fishing line and sitting there waiting with family there beaches are so beautiful and nice like the ones you see in TV commercials. I haven’t even got to the best part they have a little cruise called sunset cruise. You rode on a pirate ship and watch people fight and watch the sun go down. I was a lot like the movie call peter pan. This little cruise was so special because in a hurry and I got locked out of my room I forgot to wear shoes so I was without shoes that whole night. There is one restraints that you have to go to when you are there I mean they have unreal food. They have huge tacos filled with anything you want with beans, rice and a side salad. I can taste it now. I also remember the time I went with my grandparents to the beach after the sun went down with one of my uncles. You have experienced nothing until that happened I mean the sand nice and cold between your toes swimming in the ocean you feel so free and wild. That is why cabo San Lucas Mexico is so special to me. I have a lot of good memories there with my…

The most memorable time in my life was my daughter's cleft palate surgery. It was January 4th when my daughter and I had to leave El Paso, TX to take a trip to Austin, TX. It was a long drive for a little baby like her at the time she was only two years old. Early that morning my parents took us to the bus station. The bus was leaving at 6 a.m. in the morning to get to Austin, TX at midnight. My daughter and I felt it was the longest drive ever as the bus was very full and kept stopping. Finally, we arrived to Austin at midnight. I had to walk around for some time until I found a cab to take us to the hotel. I was scared and nervous. I was all alone with my daughter in a city we didn't know. We arrived to the hotel and finally felt safe and some peace. As soon as we walked in the room, I called my family and let them know we were good.…

As it was 2005 I was very excited to arrive in Abroad for the first time and I was extremely glad because I arrived in one of my favorite countries. For me USA was a wide place of opportunities where I had an open hand to compose an exceptional future. I was glad and a little sad too because I assumed it kind of delicate compromise to leave all my relatives behind in my country and come here but the race of life make man learn and adjust in.…

I remember the day well. I was just finished with school for the year and sitting on the front step, the top half of me laying back on the porch, just staring. I was thinking about the small house my mother worked so hard for us to get and keep. We lived in row housing just outside Juneau Alaska. All of the houses were small and I always thought to myself, “Is this the life I am destined for?” My mind wondered as I looked up at the clouds and squinted because of the sun.…

I thought about running from my troubles, but that isn’t a life that I wanted. The next day I took the long drive from Charlotte NC to Morganton NC knowing that I was going to jail for a long time. I turn myself in at the Magistrates office thinking that I will be showed some leniency, after all I was only 18 years old and it was the first time I had been in trouble. Before my arrival to the United States of America, I viewed this country’s values as a land of opportunity and the promotion of freedom. Upon my arrival to the US, my perspective has shifted and the reality became more obvious. Knowing the country's values and ideals increases your sense of knowledge. Americans endorse unity, praise the idea of family, and acknowledge the innovations created by these individuals. My families curiosities about this country spurred our move from The United Arab Emirates to United States of America.…

The most difficult time is the period when I came to America. I was born in China and lived there for 20 years. The new environment for me was unfamiliar and challengeable. My English was poor and hard to understand, so that I was afraid to speak English to people. But if I want to stay here, I must solve this problem. Therefore, I went to the adult school to improve my oral English. During the idle time, I watched the CNN student news to broaden my horizon and to know more about America. Nowadays, my English has improved a lot, although I know that’s not enough. I still have a long way to go to achieve the standard that speak fluently. In addition, I also had a challenge in learning how to drive. Everyone knows that car is essential for our lives.…

I was forty-one weeks and one day pregnant, lying in an uncomfortable hospital bed, wearing a hideous pink gown, and counting the minutes until my next contraction. Apparently, you were very comfortable in my tummy because there was no sign of you making your appearance any time soon. I was having plenty of contractions but was not dilating; our doctor was looking for a count of at least 60 on the room monitor, but I was only in the mid-20s. Before long she ordered that Pitocin be administered to induce productive labor. It seemed to work-- after only twenty minutes, my contractions went from the twenties to the eighties and continued to increase after that. A few more long hours passed.…
