If it was a bad thing you would definitely get a consequence. For example, if I decide to be petty for something that wasn't worth it, something negative will become the result. However, Proctor is a cheater and even he questioned his sins and even he knew he was a bad guy. Certain decisions that we make can be good or bad. It will always come back to us.
