The Count Ship Of Mr Lyon Essay
The modern version of Angela Carter “the Count Ship of Mr. Lyon” defines similarities and differences to the original fairy tale “Beauty and the Beast”. Carter story character compare to original beauty and beast are totally opposite. In original Beauty and the Beast the Beauty is more shy and reserve, and the beauty in “The Count Ship of Mr. Lyon” is more confident, because author defines beauty as a the modern cultural girl who have more confidence and she is less shy as todays girls are. On the other hand, Beauty defines in old cultural in which girl have little rights and less confidence. The other difference I find in old story father have children and in new version father have only one child beauty. In addition, in old story father allows beauty to live with beast forever, and in new version the father took beauty with him. Father comes in car instead of …show more content…
My dad brought me CD for Cinderella, and I watched it many times. My mom always tells me, look this Cinderella is really well manner girl she being treated cruel by her step-mother but still she have a lot passions to survive. Moreover, mom used to say good deed always give you good ends. I never notice her words deeply in childhood, my full attention was on movie. Now as an adult I think about my mother words, I believe if I won’t hurt anyone feeling and stay humble person in return I will get good things also. Like a good husband who can take care of me and live happy life with me. My perspective got change as an adult, before I saw that movie to entertain myself, to look beautiful Cinderella and the love between her and prince. Now If I watch it I will pay more attention to the lesson movie provides. A lesson of a good girl, who get good thing in return after following many hardship.     Carter uses Beauty in ‘The Courtship of Mr Lyon’ to initially represent the archetypal female in fairy-tales; she’s a ‘lovely girl’, and dutiful to her father, being ‘possessed by a sense of obligation’ to him. In comparison Beauty in ‘The Tiger’s Bride’ is astute and opinionated; she lets out a "raucous guffaw’ when the Beast requests to see her naked. However both grow to love a beast and transfer a young girl’s affection towards her father, to a lover as they sexually mature. Beauty in ‘The Tiger’s Bride’ changes so much, she becomes a ‘wild’ lion herself. This distorts the traditional form of a fairy tale, with tranquil women that remain pure and innocent, as Carter explores unafraid, brave protagonists.
