Everyone in America knows that college is where you want to be. At a very young and impressionable age, the children in our schools are asked what college they want to go to. As this idea that a higher education is something they’ll inevitably have, the children go on to believe they need it to have a better life. However, is that really true? College, in particular, is a very strange and corrupt system. Many problems reside on the modern college campus, so many that we wonder if going to college was ever the better option. Based on averages, people who earned a college degree also earned more money later in life (New school year, old story: Education pays). Their student debts can be paid off with their supposedly superior jobs. Historically, more extremely successful people had higher educations than those who only had basic schooling (Rotherham). However, if according to them, finding a great job is so facile after college, then why does America have one trillion dollars in student debt? Including the fact that at the moment, it's actually harder for a college graduate to find a job (Vedder). And using famous successful people who went to college, is slightly contradictory to their cause. After all, famous people are famous initially because they're rare. All in all, college just isn't worth it. It doesn't prepare you for success any more, it gives you physical and mental diseases, causes debt, and even takes lives. That flimsy paper diploma that doesn't even get you somewhere in the world is no use. Not everyone has the capacity to be successful, and there are other ways of higher education that are much less taxing. College is not the best bet in life.
