The Constitution of the Student Council of Benzie Central High

School

Preamble We, the students of Benzie Central High School, to develop leadership and self-reliance, to promote student participation and involvement, to develop school spirit, to protect the rights of the student body, and to create a healthy school environment, do create and establish this constitution.

Article 1 Members: Their qualifications and duties

Section 1. Membership

The following students of Benzie Central High School shall have a seat and a voice on the Student Council.

A. The President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Student Council. B. The President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer from each high school class. C. Two representatives and one alternate elected from each high school class. D. All heads of committees. E. All foreign exchange students. F. Any person not having a voice on the Student Council shall obtain a voice through an appeal to their class Representatives.

Section 2. General Qualifications

A. The general qualification for all members shall be that they maintain a C average or better for their total subjects. If the average is not maintained for a nine-week period, the member will be suspended for the following nine weeks. If the average is not maintained for the following nine weeks, the member will be suspended from the Student Council.
Section 3. Executive Offices

1. Executive offices will be voted on by the new year’s class 2. Executive office nomination and appointment will not occur until class elections are finished 3. All executive office must also hold class position. 4. Executive officers must have served one whole term prior to nomination. 5.
