The Consequences Of Academic Integrity
The presentation regarding Academic integrity at Rutgers was very informative. I learned about things that I did not know before, but also acquired more knowledge and information on things that I already knew. For example, I already knew, from high school, what plagiarism was and some of the consequences it could cause. However, in my high school they did not really enforce it or pay much attention to it, but the consequences it can cause in college caught me by surprise. In addition to plagiarism, I also learned about the different types of things that can breach academic integrity, such as changing grades, selling/buying all papers, and turning in old homework again. Even though I know that these rules are in place for our benefit and to

One thing that I greatly appreciated, when I was deciding which univeristy to attend, was how well Texas A&M expressed the Aggie Code of Honor. "Aggies do not lie, cheat, or steal or tolerate those who do." A very simple saying, but one that is heard and seen all around campus. It is tied to the university as much as the word "Howdy". It is great that this motto of academic integrity is already stiched to Texas A&M because its easier for professors and the university to promote academic integrity. Professors and the university need to continue to explicitly preach the Aggie Code of Honor throughout the semester as a reminder for students. Also one thing that students are not knowlegeable of are the consequences of acting acadebmically dishonest.…

I learned that to be an ethical learner requires honesty. We should behave in an ethical manner and make proper choices when doing our work. Lying, cheating, and dishonesty should never be accepted even if you’re running behind in school. I also learned that by taking short cuts and cheating and could away with it, in the end you are only cheating yourself and building up a poor character of yourself. Also by cheating you are depriving yourself of the full learning experiences that you are paying for and by cheating yourself will create a bad habit and only hurt yourself down the road.…

Academic integrity is a basic guiding principle for all academic activity at The Pennsylvania State University, and all members of the University community are expected to act in accordance with this principle. Consistent with this expectation, the University's Code of Conduct states that all students should act with personal integrity, respect other students' dignity, rights and property, and help create and maintain an environment in which all can succeed through the fruits of their efforts. Academic integrity includes a commitment by all members of the University community not to engage in or tolerate acts of falsification, misrepresentation or deception. Such acts of dishonesty violate the fundamental ethical principles of the University community and compromise the worth of work completed by others.” (Penn State’s University Faculty Senate Policy…

Personally, I believe academic integrity to be an individual’s duty to maintain complete honesty in a scholarly setting; it is comprehending the importance of submitting one’s own creations. From an educator’s point of view, it signifies insuring that all students submit original content and are taught how to do so correctly. While researching the meaning of academic integrity, I realized that I have the right ideas as to what scholastic morality signifies. Academic integrity is sincere scholarship in which students are expected to give credit to others when utilizing their work to draw ideas from (“What is…”).…

High school is a period of wonder, excitement, and mystery, where a teen’s first taste of freedom guides them on their journey. On the contrary, it is a time of social pressure and anxiety, where fitting in with “the crowd” is what looms on every young boy’s mind. This was me as a sophomore, trying to fit into the archetype of the athlete; the student who could clock a 6 minute mile or just hit a jump shot. I would mirror their actions, trying to force myself to copy certain qualities, like music and things that they enjoyed. But alas, my 5’8 height, 130lb body weight, and scrawny body frame questioned my ability to perform like a top athlete. Even so, I conformed myself to the social norm of what I thought was cool, allowing peer pressure to get the best of me.…
