The Chrysalids Movie Apa Citation
The title GATTACA is an appropriate name for the movie because it is set in the future, where DNA information decides everyone's fate and genetic engineering is used to “breed” the elite of society. The word “GATTICA” is an acronym for four major components of the DNA structure. In the movie; Gattica is the name of an aeronautics company that launches space missions. Vincent is one of the last “natural” babies and has a heart condition which would cast him out of a chance to travel in space. He assumes the identity of Jerome (who has been genetically configured) in order to fulfill his dream. Therefore, because of the relationship between DNA and the plot, GATTACA is an appropriate name for the movie.

While having the option to read the novel, The Cay or watch the movie, The Cay I would rather read the book. I believe the book, by Theodore Taylor, is better because of the fact that there is far more details of the adventure that Phillip and Timothy had in the book than in the movie, produced by Walter Seltzer. I also can see in the movie that there is a very low budget for the movie. I also believe that the fact that you can read Philip's mind it makes that story that much better and shows how much prejudice has to do with the whole story, while in the movie you never really know how prejudice Phillip is. It is almost like the movie was cut to the raft, sped through on the raft, told the whole story for the most part of while on the cay,…

Overall, the movie was about an Individual who in order to obtain his forever dream in visiting the outer space he had to commit a fraud by utilizing a false identification in order to get a certain prestige in the corporation named “GATTACCA” that would help him achieve his dream. Similar to the main character, if I had the necessity to obtain what I want in life, I would most likely act hypocrite in order to obtain what I desire. Something I would say that it should not happen, since at the end of the day you realize that you cannot hide from something when in reality you’re hiding from…

“Now, you remember children how I told you last Sunday about the good Lord going up into the mountain and talking to the people. And how he said, 'Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God’… And then the good Lord went on to say, 'Beware of false prophets which come to you in sheep 's clothing, but inwardly, they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits.’ ” This opening quote by the Bible fearing woman Rachel sets the tone for the film The Night of the Hunter. Gattaca is directed by Andrew Niccol and the film is set out in the "not too distant future." Andrew Niccol's perspective of the future isn't what most people expect but once thought about thoroughly it surely seems quite possible. This movie presents us with a new method in which society strives for perfection and it also makes the audience wonder if genetic engineering is morally correct. The social hierarchy system in Gattaca is based on your genetic makeup and the way you were born. People born the way we know as natural are "in-valids"; on the other hand people born with the assistance of genetic engineering are "valids." An "in-valid" has his future set out to be a cleaner or other insignificant job in society which doesn't require an education. A new form of prejudice has been raised into debate which is the idea of having superior or inferior genes.…

In The Chrysalids, John Wyndham creates a nightmare society in which the citizens are driven to obey cruel laws out of fear and punishment by man or by god. Because of the cruelty of their laws and their religion, the people become selfish and hateful towards each other. We are surprised when we are introduced to young people like the Waknuk telepaths, for as they mature, they demonstate qualities of loyalty, compassion and self sacrifice. The mystery of it is that the people of Waknuk were taught to believe that acceptance of a unique or different individual is absolutely immoral. If even the group of telepaths were brought up in such a harsh society, how is it that they manage to demonstrate the characteristics that it takes to be a thoughtful and caring person? Perhaps we should consider that all their lives, they have had to live with the brutal reality of trying to accept themselves. They have had to become accustomed to their deviations while knowing that they would be hated, sterilized and banished should anyone ever find out. Maybe the telepaths’ sensitivity level has increased due to the life they have had to endure. Perhaps it’s because they have the capability and power to read each other’s feelings, minds, and souls as to how they are feeling and what they are thinking. They have the ability to have feelings with each other without having to show them to the people around them who do not posess the same powers. All of the telepaths are priviledged to have amazing qualities such as loyalty, compassion and self sacrifice.…
