The Causes and Effects of Stress In the following essay, I am going to discuss the causes and effects of stress. Have you ever been under any stressful situation to the point you ended up sick? Stress is related to many Illnesses such as mental disorders, high blood pressure, psychosomatic illness, insomnia, anxiety, depression, cardiovascular problems, and even cancer. First, I will discuss the causes of stress. There are many factors that contributes to stress, such as competition in the workplace, emotional stress, type of personality, school related stress, financial stress, pessimism, among many others factors. Another factor that leads to stress is lack of organization or discipline in a daily routine. For others, the personality type might be the major stressor, such as people who are perfectionist, pessimists, and work-obsessed. These stressors cited above can be the major causes of stress related illnesses. Second, I am going to talk about the effects of stress. One of the many effects of stress is that after going through a long period of stress, your immune system tends to shut down, which consequently is going to affect your health. Psychosomatic illness is another effect of prolonged stress. It starts with emotional stress and leads to physical symptoms that can be very harmful if not treated. Third, I am going to talk about a good stress called Eustress. Eustress is a type of positive stress that keeps us excited about life events. We experience Eustress in any event that causes us to be excited like falling in love, a new challenge job, riding on a roller coaster etc. Eustress effects our motivations and inspirations; without Eustress we would become unhappy and depressed. To conclude, If we recognize what are the triggers for stress, we can prevent it from happening. A dose of discipline, self-control and positivism can make wonders in the
