The Cause Of Rwanda Genocide

The events in which occurred in Rwanda were the effects of the outgrowth of a

struggle for economic and political domination of the continent of Africa. The long term

cause of the genocide was a history of hostility between both tribal groups of the

Hutus and Tutsis in Rwanda. The groups were defined more by economic and social

status rather than ethnicity. President Habyarimana would push the separations of the

Hutu and Tutsi population. The main immediate cause of the genocide was when the

plane of President Habyarimana was shot down on April 6, 1994. The Hutus blamed

the Tutsis for this and the Hutus gathered their plans of demolishing the Tutsi

population. The Tutsi population was also blamed for the social, economic,
