The Book Thief Movie Analysis
When books are adapted to movies Directors will usually change a number of things and change unnecessary details. However, for the movie The Book Thief the director did not seem to consider all that he was getting rid of that helped the story flow. There were many differences and similarities between the book and the movie. However, the film adaptation does not measure up to the original due to some incorrect order of events, certain details, and the characters. Even though the Movie and the book had some major differences they had some important similarities. Some character relationships remained the same. Examples of this would be Liesel and Han’s father daughter bond, Max’s lasting friendship with Liesel, and Rudy liking Liesel. They show Liesel stealing the Gravedigger's Handbook at the beginning of the movie. At the end of the movie and book, everyone on Himmel Street died except for Liesel. In the movie, the order of events was significantly altered for some parts. Others were …show more content…
For Liesel, they did not show her drastic character development throughout the movie, unlike the book. For Death, since he did not narrate as much this lead to some parts of the movie lacking dramatic feeling. Since death was the narrator of the book it would be expected that he would have narrated the movie just as much. Another character that was vaguely different was Ilsa Herman. The book made her sound like a weak and frail women who was very shy. She lacked sensitivity when she was talking about her son in the movie. Directors will change a number of things when they are turning a book into a movie. Some of these things maybe are orders and details of events that are taking place. The movie version of The Book Thief did not measure up to the original because of the amount of detail taken out. The movie it was not as emotional and dramatic as the

On the other hand, some of the differences between the book and the movie are the followings: the Golden Carp was left out compared to the written literature. In the book, the Golden Carp was God-like to Antonio where he was constantly going back and forth between the beliefs of God and the ways of the Golden Carp. When Antonio sees the Golden Carp for the first time, he starts to question his own religion. However, in the movie, there was no recognizable alternative religion that forced Antonio to question his religion. Also, the second spell cast on the Tellez family ranch was omitted from the movie. In the book, Mr. Tellez goes to Gabriel’s house to ask for help from Ultima to lift up the curse. Another, difference in the movie is the further development of Narciso’s character. Narciso was a young man whose wife died early, who had a gift for growing in a hidden house with a garden. Also, when Tenorio kills Narciso is raining instead of snowing. As a result, movies based on books…

There were several similarities between the book and the movie. One way they were alike was Joetta thinks that the angel does not look like her because the angel is white and she is African American. Another similarity between the two was Kenny believes that if he stays behind the couch long enough, the “magic” will work to get rid of his depression. A final comparison was when they see the notebook their mom made and…

Since the two are very different, I will tell you 3 differences and similarities that I noticed. One difference was Mr. Shuan, an important character, wasn’t even in the movie! He had killed Ransom and that helped Davie escape. Another difference is that Ransom didn’t die in the movie, or at least not the original way. We saw him on the boat before it blew up in the movie, in the book he died in the hull. My last difference is that The Long Mile Gang didn’t exist in the book. Some evidence that proves the flick wasn’t crazy wrong were (1) Alan did wear a blue coat…

When you read a book do you visualize the movie in your head? When books are turned into movies most the time the author’s message is ruined, and the integrity of the novel. When someone writes a novel they write it from their point of view, their vision, it’s their story. But when a director hears, or reads the book they see it differently and from their point of view. Novels become a different novel when turned into a Hollywood movie because no one visualizes the same characters, settings or themes.…

Movies and books are always different; in a movie you can show multiple characters, and in most books you're stuck in one character's narrative. For instance in the book The Giver the character Fiona doesn’t care about Jonas as deeply as she does in the movie. In the movie she stops her injections, and she starts to love Jonas. However in the book she only “enjoys having Jonas’s company”. In the movie she also helps Jonas steal Gabe before he is killed, and she is put in the community jail for helping him. Before she is going to be released she talks about how she has felt things. That she knows what it is like to truly feel, and in the book she isn’t this unorthodox.…

There are many differences and similarities between the book and movie. The Lightning Thief is both an astounding book and movie. One of my favorite things that was in the book that wasn’t in the movie, which disappointed me, is Grover being dragged away towards Tartarus. Now, I did enjoy the fact they put in the Parthenon in Nashville, Tennessee to add more action and adventure to the movie, though it wasn’t in the book. I am glad that Luke stayed the lightning thief or else the movie and book would have been nothing alike in my…

Another noticeable change in the movie verses the book was the emphasis on the different characters. The main character was indisputably Michael Oher in both the book and the movie. However, the movie put a strong emphasis on Leigh Anne Touhy (who was played by Sandra Bullock) and presented her as the second most major character aside from Michael. The book, on the other hand, had a lot more facts about Sean that the movie never presented. Leigh Anne was a key player in both, but in the movie, she seemed to be so much more of a main character that the other characters that stood out in the book did not do so in the movie. The major example of that was Sean Touhy who seemed to be the first one to invest in Michael in the book unlike the movie where he played a more quiet and uninvolved role in Michael's life. There were other subtle differences that could be noticed, like having the necessary GPA for an NCAA scholarship be 2.5 (movie) instead of 2.56 (book) which led to another problem to work around, or having Michael's fight be with the gang members in his old neighborhood (movie) instead of with one of his teammates at Ole Miss (book). Overall, however, the movie attempted to portray an accurate account of the book which made it enjoyable to read and watch both.…

Take the ending for example, in the movie she had a fight scene with the main bad character in the movie. In the book she didn’t, she ended up having to fight her boyfriend, but not the bad character. In the movie she forced the woman to shut off the bad simulation people were in. In the book she did it herself; this changed the ending in many ways.…

On the contrary, in the movie everyone arrives by a ski lift to a cold, snowy mountain. Many of the indictments are changed between the two works. In the book, General Macarthur put his wife’s new lover in the frontline of battle, but in the book General Mandrake sends 5 men to their death. Miss Emily Brent scolds a woman into suicide in the book, while in the movie Miss Burgan kills her husband. Vera Claythorne let’s a young child drown in the book, and in the movie Ann Clide said to be responsible for the death of her sister’s fiance. One thing in particular that the book does much better is making use of complex metaphors and themes, such as: the river for life, and oneness with nature, that string themselves together as you turn each page of the book, while in the movie the metaphors and symbolism are represented in a much different way through picture. In the book, both themes regarding the river are very vivid and clear, as they use strong imagery of nature to draw pictures in the minds of the readers. In the movie both themes are represented and referred to much less because of the lack of narration.…

In both the book and the movie, the plot is very similar but is also different. They both have lots of similarities and lots differences. In the book and movie, the plot is similar in the way that Leslie dies when use swings across the creek. It is different in the way that in the movie, Jess gets his hopes up to become the fastest kid in his class, than Leslie comes along and beats him. The plot also changes because the movie has less time to fit everything in that is in the book.…

In this case, the movie The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has changes made to it that make the novel look bad. The title of the book is The Hobbit written by J.R.R Tolkien and the director of the movie is Peter Jackson. A small, peaceful hobbit named Bilbo Baggins goes on an unwanted adventure with 13 dwarves and a wizard named Gandalf. In the chapter, “Inside Information”, Bilbo begins to act more brave and starts to show the characteristics of a hero. In the movie Jackson changed the way that Smaug was first shown and how Bilbo met him and he also made Thorin more selfish and greedy about the treasure, these changes were effective in creating suspense using visual and audio techniques.…

Whenever you read a book and then go watch the movie, most of the time they don’t follow the same events in the same order. Just like in the myth “Perseus” and the movie, Clash of the Titans, the event are not all the same and some of the causes of the events are not the same either. Different things happen in the movies that are not even close to some of the things in the myth. These differences can either make the story better or just make it less interesting.…
