The Book Thief: Movie Analysis
During World War II, the Jews had to endure suffering while the Germans lived in luxury. This was certainly incorrect. In “The Book Thief” the movie conveys the suffering of the Germans, as Night, a memoir by Elie Wiesel, describes to real life torture of the Jews. Liesel is the main character of the movie and suffers great loss, but it is not even close to being as bad as the torture Elie had to deal with. Even though Liesel and Elie have different backgrounds they have to go through similar situations throughout the war. Liesel fears the SS men because they could take her dad anytime. In the movie, Liesel's father spoke against the SS in order to protect a Jew that was being taken away, later on, the SS man takes him away and is forced

    Concentration camps showed us inhumanity on a scale previously unimagined. However the setting in place of such inhumane behaviour began some years before with the systematic dehumanising of the Jews by breaking down social structures and relationships and taking away their place in civil society. The novel shows that there is great inhumanity displayed from this personal journey of Elie Wiesel.
