the blind side
Stephanie Marie Jison EMC1 #142426 The Blind Side
During our Physics class, it was my second time to watch this movie. The first time I watched it, I didn’t really focus on the movie but when we were required to watch it during our physics class, I fully focused on the movie and I’m glad I did. The Blind Side shows the value of loving your neighbours and helping those in need. I really enjoyed the movie because of the values it has taught me & because of the story itself. It’s just amazing to think that the movie is based on a true story and that the world is composed of people such as Leigh Anne and that this world is still full of so much kindhearted people.
I love how even though Michael didn’t really come from a good family who was able to support him financially and emotionally, in the end he was still able to overcome the pain from his past and still be successful in life. It just comes to show that it doesn't matter where you come from, but where you’re going. In the movie, Leigh Anne believed that Michael had potential in becoming a football player since one of he ranked 99% in protective instincts. In that part of the movie, it comes to show that it is important to have someone who believes in you and your potential in the journey to success. Having someone believe in you is a great confidence booster and I believe that all the successful people had someone believe in them that is why they are where they are today.
The most important thing I learned in the movie is to help those in need and to be kind to everyone no matter where they come from or even though you won’t get anything in return because it’s the right thing to do. I believe that loving your neighbours even to the ones who have hurt you is still the way to go because if we don’t, we’d just be hurting ourselves and the other people around us. But if we choose to love, even the unlovable, the world would be a better place for everyone because I believe love is the root of everything good. For me, God is love. I say that God is love because true love is something no one can emotionally fill except for God. At the end of the day, we will still end up feeling empty inside if we don’t have God in our lives because He’s the only one who can fill the emptiness & hurt we feel. His love is like no other. It’s the kind of love that makes you feel refreshed and new no matter how useless or lame you feel, He always has the ability to make old things new again. That is why God’s love is important because once you have it in you and really feel it, you will be able to spread God’s love to those who don’t know it and you will be able to be a light to those whose path may seem lost. I believe Leigh Anne really had God in her life because for her to show compassion and love to someone she doesn't really know, is all because of the love of God. That is why we all need to experience true love which we can only get from God so that we could be able to help those who don’t have it.

Michael was born into a bad situation to begin with; his mother was a crack addict. The neighborhood was known as a “broken windows” neighborhood, crime rate high and a lack of police presence. No one ever gave Michael a chance or believed in him until he met the Tuohy family, who changed his life. The plan that I have thought of for Michael is for him to continue living with the Tuohy family, but get in touch with his siblings. He needs to know his biological family. Sorting and organizing his life events in different factors, the majority of them are psychological factors, which should result with him seeing a counselor to relieve some of his life’s…

Initially Leigh Anne comes across as a feisty mother with a strict agenda, but just as Michael goes through a complete renovation, so does she. This story paints Bullock’s Leigh Anne Tuohy as a tough-as-nails Southern belle who acts as Oher’s left tackle in life, shielding him from the racist whisperings of the country-club set and a dim high-school coach who doesn’t know how to communicate with him. By the end of the film Leigh Anne maintains the stick-to-itiveness she utilizes to change Michael’s life and keep her own family together, but sheds her tough exterior and absorbs what their journey has revealed to her about herself. This is what makes the story unique. It’s not just about a rich woman being charitable to a poor boy or the rise of an unlikely athlete; it’s about the transformation of a family. She subtly but forcefully drives The Blind Side and infuses it with a depth and charm, making it a truly inspiring…

Also, I will be answering question number 8. In the beginning of the story, Michael was very scared and nervous at all times. He acted this way because if the government found out about his father, he would be sent back to Cuba and be separated with his brother. At the end of the story, however, Michael feels a lot more happy and relieved to do what he wants. The truth about his father’s death comes out, but his coach takes him into his household temporarily. Now, he isn’t keeping all of his feelings bottled up and…

The movie of The Blind Side attempted to mimic the book as much as possible, however there were noticeable choices that the director made that changed the presentation of the movie compared to the picture that the book created. One of the main choices was to cut out a lot of the football facts that were presented in the book. Throughout the book, numerous chapters were dedicated to talking about the history of the importance of the left tackle and other players in the game, but in the movie, almost all of those scenes were cut out. This made the movie move faster unlike the book which was slow moving at times.…

The book had part of its plot based on Michael’s life, and the other on the growth of the game and left tackle. The talk about how Jose theismans arm was broken in two places because hs left tackle did not protect his blind side, and maybe his am breaking in two hinted to the 2 story lines. The movie simply merged Michael’s poor past into football and turned him into a star to cater to a wider audience and be a feel good inspirational movie, while the book gave insight on actual football, the growth of the game, and Michael Oher’s upbringing. In the movie, they completely removed Michael’s life in hurt village, or explain how the projects came to become hurt village. They also took out many of the minor characters like Zach, and all the other little details like how Michael wanted to play basketball like M.J., and how his father went to prison. They also never brought up any details about Oher’s brothers and sisters in the movie. As you can see, they left out major chunks of the book from the movie, completely removing the end of it which talked about his life before meeting the…

Lewis excelled with foreshadowing “When Tom Lemming Walked Into the Football Meeting room at the University of Memphis, looking for Michael Oher, the ghost of Lawrence Taylor was waiting”(N.P.). This alluded to the future when Michael would become the most sought out offensive linemen but it gave an insight of what people in the realm of football thought of Michael instantly without knowing him. Lewis exceeded expectations by working with real life quotes to develope the charters” “It was really unusual to see a kid with those kinds of defects that wanted an education” he said. “To want to be in this environment. A lot of kids with his background wouldn't come within two hundred miles of the place””(N.P.). By including this real life quote the author added to the tone of how people categorized Michael. Lewis did well with displaying how Leigh Anne felt about Micheal without flat out saying it “The next day, Afternoon, Leigh Anne left her Business she had her own interior decorating outfit- turned up at Briarcrest, picked up the kid, and took off with him”(N.P.). This exhibits how Leigh Anne felt about Michael she cared for him just like he was her own son. People treated Michael diffrent because of how he appeared but not the Tuohy's they treated him just like a member of the…

The reason I have chosen this film text it because its purpose expresses moral lessons though animated film. An example of this is; when flick learns that he doesn’t have to be like everyone else in the colony and becomes an independent ant, who then goes in search for his inner-self. This has and does relate to me through my youth as it has always has taught me even if I’m not like everyone else or like or do the same things, that’s okay and that no matter what, I can still be noticed, liked and accepted in society despite how different I may be and stamp a big mark in society if I ever wanted to.…
