Mark Zuckerberg’s social network has ingrained itself into the daily life of digital-age users in a way that forebears like Myspace and Twitter could imagine. Ten years and 1.2 billion users into its existence (CNN, 2014), there’s no question that Facebook has changed into many people life who is using Facebook or even those who are not. It is a culture that is affecting every one of us who is using Facebook. It has a great influence in our society. Despite of Facebook popularity among our society, Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek has made an announcement that the Malaysia government is now looking at the possibility of blocking Facebook, following 2000 claims of abuse reports by Facebook users (The Malaysia Insider, 2014). This announcement triggered the whole Malaysian and many reminded the government about overall positive impact of Facebook in the society. It is also impossible to close Facebook which have 15 million Malaysia’s accounts compared 2000 abused claims (The Malaysia Insider, 2014). Is Facebook beneficial to the Society? In our opinion we agreed Facebook has more positive impact to the society especially to the business users, youth and women.

Facebook’s mission is to give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected (M Zuckerberg’s, 2009). People use Facebook to connect with families and friends or other people around the world. There are a lot of people being able to reconnect with friends that they have lost contact for many years with Facebook, just by typing their name and personal information on the searching engine. Thus, Facebook makes people maintain good relationship and build their network. This is an advantages as networking is a key component of business. A study showed that 35% consumer used Facebook to obtain product recommendation from Facebook friends before they purchased products and 85% of those consumers purchased products based on these recommendations. (A Mohammed, 2012).
This was a strong positive impact that Facebook “friend to friends” networking influenced business to use Facebook as product recommendation source.
Facebook is a platform for business to present information media to their customers such as photos, video, latest updates and events. Therefore, customers are able to know the details of the products and services straight from the source. Moreover, companies can set Fan permission to let people post some relevant pictures or video of their products. Therefore, companies can comment back to people commenting, it helps build trusting relationships with customers and gives a competitive advantage. When people ‘Like’ business companies’ Pages, they will get updates from Pages immediately. Therefore, people will know the companies’ information updated and can link to the Page of the business by clicking the posts. Business owners used Facebook as a marketing research for themselves. When entrepreneurs wanted to get feedback of their products or opinion on customer services, traditionally they need to run a conduct call surveys. Now, Facebook provides an active line with their customer. Therefore, they just need to post a question on their wall or status and hundreds of people will respond within minutes. As soon as they get all the feedbacks, they can improve their product and services in an instant.
