*Why does Omar ibn Said begin his autobiography with a chapter from the Qur’an?
Omar ibn Said began his autobiography with a chapter from the Qur’an because the chapter that he picked emphasizes God’s ownership of the heavens and earth. Also, He might have started his autobiography with a chapter from the Qur’an to privately or security state that God is above everything and he the creator of all thing in the world.

*What happened to Omar ibn Sayyid once he arrived in the United States?
Once Omar ibn sayyid to the United States he was sold to a man who lives in charleston called Johnson. After a month of doing hard work, Omar ibn sayyid ran way to Fayelteville, North Carolina. He found a church and decided to go pray in it. He got caught in it and was put into a house which he called jail for sixteen days. Later a man named Bob Mumford let Omar ibn sayyid out of jail and he stayed with him for four days. After Mumfor’s Son in law, Jim Owen took him and had Omar live with him.

According to what Omar ibn said, said in his letter the seemed to feel happy and thankful about his destiny. He said that Owen’s family took good care of him and never left him hungry or sick and always clothed him. He mentioned that they always read the Gospel for him. They almost treated him like a family
