The Atomic Bombs: A Short Story

At last the house was quiet, as almost everyone had gone to bed. When Doctor Pax got back to his study, he spoke to the only other person in the room.
'Let’s open this box.'
Now, as it happened, Shrieve knew all about bombs. Whether it was large bombs, small bombs, or time bombs. Bomb bombs or big bad bouncing bombs. He was an expert on bombs. You see, before Captain A. J. Shrieveland died, he worked for the bomb disposal unit, but that was before a large explosion ripped through his van. Boom! His army days were over.
When Shrieve edged the lid open with his knife, Doctor Pax felt his heartbeat accelerate.
