The Art Analysis Of Manuel Luis Reyes's Concepts
How will you explain the artwork that you have chosen? In my perspective as someone who had viewed the artwork made by Manuel Luis Reyes, I would interpret this painting as something which entails the manner how the society sees shapes the capacity of the human mind to convey many emotions, abilities, and personalities as an effect of it. The painter of the artwork used loud colors which signify many strong emotions and feelings of the girl in the painting. The girl in the painting was small, and is probably a child. The society has the persona of actually belittling her since she is “just a child” or “just a girl” but then, they are not aware that this “girl” actually has many things going on in her mind. The painting primarily showed that her personality and feelings are capable of becoming …show more content…
There is the presence of water and air pollution, volcanic eruptions, smoke from factories, tons of buildings, fire. If this will be put in the context of nature, this art entails the negative works of humankind to the nature- bringing chaos and destruction to it without actually being aware of it.
Overall, this painting can have different meaning depending on who will interpret it.
If you are the artist, what changes will you make to improve your work? If I were the artist of this painting, I would most likely emphasize on the girl more than how the original artist presented it. The artist used dark colors. In my case, I would most likely use a lighter shade of blue and white to highlight the girl more since I believe that she is as equally as important as the “face” above her. I also plan to maximize the “white waves” more to balance it with the gray/black waves.
I have no plans of changing how the “face” was presented since I think that it was presented very perfectly, using a variety of shapes, lines and colors. Its combinations are really one-of-a-kind and very

Also, if you look very closely at the painting, you can see some brush strokes that the painter made. I like that because the viewer can see how thick the paint is and how you move onto the canvas. Lastly, I like how there is light around the top of the painting. I love how the artist used different colors and shades. This art piece goes very well in my family's dining room, in my opinion.…

The painting consists of a very blue color scheme throughout. This is, in most cases, associated with coldness and sometimes death. The dark blue background also, as mentioned above, provided almost an extreme contrast. In addition to the background, her hair also dark. Had he chosen blonde hair, the contrast would dulled. Most importantly, the girl’s eyeliner very much brings out her eyes. It is strategically placed on her waterlines rather than lids to accentuate her eyeballs and provide incredibly sharp corners to her eyes. The coldness and “deathly” tone of the painting manifests an eerie and dangerous theme. The contrast and accentuation of the girl and her eyes inclines the audience to be intrigued by the girls fearlessness in a cold and deathly…

This painting is by Ellen Plankey, it is untitled and a pastel. For the purposes of this paper, I’ll call it “Young Girl on Blanket”. This is a picture of a young woman sitting on what appears to be a blanket. She’s looking off to her right and is wearing a dark blue skirt and a baby blue cloth around her head as a wrap. She’s topless, but how it’s shadowed only one of her breasts is very prominent; the other blurred by shadow. She’s surrounded by plants, all of which are leafy bushes. The sky in the back peeking through the leaves is a pale orange, almost a faded salmon color. The shadows on her body are splotched from the openings between the leaves. All of which is very soft. “Young Girl on Blanket” uses intermediate colors; soft shades of pink, blue, green and orange. All of the lines are curved in this, even the blankets edge ripples over what appears to be grass, which rounds the edge of it so that it doesn’t seem like a rectangle but instead a boxy oval. The girl’s body is curvy, not overly so, just enough so that her femininity shines through. Also, the only lines that are solid are the outline of her and her…

In her artwork the colors she uses and her very unique artistic style it’s almost easy to understand what she felt when she was creating this. The artwork also helps to distinguish the historical characteristics of Chicano aesthetics. Her artwork is a symbol of the time she grew up in as an adult, and a symbol of everything that was historically happening around her. Because there was so much artwork that she did to symbolize and historically record the times that she lived in, the times themselves start to almost unravel because it’s easier to analyze and evaluate the social, political, and economic forces that constrain and shape the structure of Chicano artistic…

At the core is Esperanza’s struggle to define herself. As Esperanza learns to define herself as a woman in a community that lacks strong female values, her perception of her identity changes. For example, Esperanza learns about sexuality and her identity as a women. Marin represents naivety in sexuality. Though Esperanza is first curious and holds Marin in high esteem because she “knows lots of things [about] sexuality” (27), her perception of sexuality in relation to her community changes. Similarly, though Sally seems to represent the “beautiful and cruel,” Esperanza realizes Sally is not like the women in movies. Sally is an independent but a dependent of love. As Esperanza observes other women in the neighborhood and the marriages that bind them, is realizes that women cannot be both “beautiful and cruel” in a male-dominated society; Marin and Sally are both trapped by the naivety of love. Furthermore, even though Nenny rejects the stereotypical notions of escaping through marriage or getting pregnant, Nenny still chooses to make the best of Mango Street. Esperanza, in contrast, wants to leave Mango Street all together. Esperanza is determined not to become a woman sitting by a window, choosing to “ not to grow up tame like the others who lay their necks on the threshold waiting for the ball and chain” (90). Unlike her mother who “could’ve been somebody” (90), she chooses to be somebody. She chooses to not be passive. Though most women choose to be either trapped in marriages that keep them on Mango Street or tied down by their children, she chooses autonomy over sexuality, and through poetry and writing, Esperanza gains a sense of…

When I saw this, I did not expect the story to be the way it is. The context of the painting was viewed both culturally and politically due to the reason why they were fighting and why people died. One of the women on the side got killed because “one should be guided by one's feelings of patriotism and not by personal feelings about family”.…

On first look at the painting, we give our attention to the isolated woman in the middle of the work. Moreover, it aims to reveal the consequences of the stigma associated with depression and those suffering from it. Divided into two ‘worlds’, the black on the right represents the loneliness and gloom that often accompany depression. It symbolises death in the form of self destruction, with the darkness and solidity of the colour signifying a distinct barrier and segregation from the ‘outside world’ resulting from the stigma. The grey prison bars behind which the figure sits portray the idea of institutionalisation, and the way in which it traps those suffering from depression, disabling them from reaching happiness and freedom, namely, the yellow side. Evidently, the yellow side is in open space, signifying a life that allows self-governance, unlike life in a total institution (i.e. psychiatric hospital). The painting also incorporates three stick figures, with two that are sitting in opposing sides of the canvas, pulling the figure in the middle by a rope to their sides; either to happiness (yellow), or depression (black). It can be seen that the limbs of the middle figure are reaching out towards the yellow area, however, their body is distinctly towards the black side. This signifies the desire of depression sufferers to reach contentment, but the inability of their mind and body to do so.…

After viewing Las Meninas by Diego Velazquez on page 154 and 155 of A World of Art, I found a couple formal qualities in terms of organizing space. The first formal quality is representing a three dimensional space. In this painting Velazquez creates an illusion of deep space because the objects closer to the viewer seems to be larger then the objects beyond it. The second formal quality is one-point linear perspective. A one point linear perspective occurs when lines are drawn on the painting in such a way to represent lines pointing to a single object. In this painting Velazquez has a focal point, which is the…

I believe this painting shows a loss of identity. This is the reason I chose this as my favorite piece of art, because I can relate to it. There came a time in my life where I was struggling with my own identity. In today's world it is very significant to identify oneself with at least one thing (ones ethnicity, nationality, race, religion, or a particular belief). Many people still grapple with the notion of identity in many countries, regions, and various ways in order to fit or adapt into any environment (social, economic, cultural, political, etc). One’s identity determines ones position or situation in society wherever one lives. However, finding the right type of…
