In American cultures it’s always difficult to make sure you get it or else you’re considered not smart enough, and with our social norms, it would be very embarrassing to call someone out when they don’t know something that is being taught. The author gives many theories to what makes a person successful whether it was achieved or passed down from family. According to Malala In this culture, female students that attend school all want to either be doctors or teachers because that’s all that women can choose to be if they attended school. And with this information I connected it to our textbook chapter called Stratification. On page 44, it talks about caste systems and how you’re class depends on who your parents are. The sons follow their fathers and the daughters follow their mothers. With all of these facts, it makes sense why people from other countries come to America, to take on opportunity and have freedom.
